LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Honoring the memory of late loved ones on their memorial or birthday can be a poignant moment, as is now the case for the well-known comedian Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott.

The well-known comedian and television host has honored his late son on what would have been his third birthday. Zen died in December 2021 after battling brain cancer. 

Additionally, Scott also paid tribute to their son on Instagram, sharing his photos on his birthday, which fell on June 23, 2024.

Cannon took to his Instagram, sharing with his 6.9 million followers a heartfelt post celebrating the presence of his son Zen Scott Cannon. The post features Cannon holding Zen with a wide smile captured in a black-and-white photo. 

The accompanying caption expresses a powerful sentiment about transforming grief into purpose, stating, "Today is the day we celebrate the life of my little guy Zen Scott Cannon, truly an Angel so every 6/23 is a tough one. But the goal is always to try to turn pain into purpose. I love you Zen. Your light will shine forever my Son. 🕊️ #ZensLight."

Nick Cannon's promise after his son Zen's death

Following Zen's death in 2021, Cannon made a promise in 2022 that has now come to fruition. According to People, Cannon announced a foundation in Zen's honor through a joint Instagram post. He shared, "June 23rd will forever be a day of celebration. A beautiful lighting ceremony to honor the life of an Angel. Zen's birth has now transformed into 'Zen's Light,'" 

Cannon elaborated, "We are proud to announce his new foundation that will help so many others in this world. 'Zen's Light' mission is to foster global excellence in hope, grief care and pediatric healthcare for families and children in need." 

Cannon expressed gratitude to those who participated in the inaugural event, including the Children's Hospital of Orange County and other partners. 

He concluded, "Can't wait for next year where our Lighting Gala will continue [to] grow to help find a cure for pediatric cancer, further research and help console more families during difficult times. 🙏🏾"

Internet extends wishes for Nick Cannon's late son
