MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: Nick Shirley has claimed he was the "last guest" to ever appear on Charlie Kirk's show before the latter's tragic demise.

In a recent appearance on the 'PBD Podcast', the investigative journalist opened up about his final interaction with the late conservative firebrand, who was assassinated in Utah last September.

Shirley described the timing of their exchange as eerie, coming just hours before Kirk was gunned down at a Turning Point USA event.

The revelation came amid discussions of Shirley's latest exposés on fraud in Minnesota.

The final appearance

Shirley recounted receiving a text from Kirk the night before the incident, inviting him onto 'The Charlie Kirk Show' for a discussion about an upcoming debate. "He texted me the day before he got shot," Shirley said. "Yeah, like he invited me on his show. I was actually the last guest to ever go on Charlie Kirk's show before he got shot."

Host Patrick Bet-David was stunned. "You were the last guest to go on Charlie's show before he got shot and killed?" he asked. Shirley confirmed, "Yeah, it was like an hour before he got shot."

Speaking to Bet-David, Shirley recalled the toll of the timing. "I wasn't personal friends with Charlie, but that is why it hit me so hard; him dying when he texted me the night before, and then I was literally the last guest to go on his show," he told Bet-David.

Shirley said he was set to live stream from the campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10, but had to travel to New York at the last minute. "It was going to be a live stream so I had to reach out at Turning Point because I am well known in Utah," he explained.

Shirley appeared on a recent episode of Kirk's show titled "Chasing Pirates in Minnesota and the Fraud Exposed Under Tim Walz," which focused on Shirley's investigations into alleged Somali fraud rings.

In it, Shirley is introduced as "the last live guest on the Charlie Kirk show before the news happened on 9/10." A co-host remarked, "Thanks for being the last live guest on the show on 9/10, which is it's pretty creepy, but in some ways fitting seeing the great things that you're doing now."

Reflections on Kirk's legacy

Despite having some differences in views, Shirley admired Kirk's work with Turning Point USA.

When PBD asked, "Who is Charlie to you?" he replied, "Yeah I think he's just somebody that similar. Somebody like you know they had your back because you're also doing the same thing so he has a mutual respect for him. And yeah you might not agree with everything Charlie said but think about what did he did as far as the movement he created with Turning Point."

He gushed about Kirk's ability to mobilize supporters, citing events like Amfest.

"I don't know if you were at Amfest last year. It's amazing to see that even one person can gather 30,000 people for a convention in one weekend right, and I think is just more so just like somebody who was in the fight with you speaking truth for what they believe and not standing down anybody," Shirley noted.

Threats over Minnesota fraud expose

Kirk's death has heightened dangers for figures like Shirley. He reported receiving threats referencing the assassination following his recent investigation on Somali-run daycares in Minnesota.

"They're saying, 'Oh, like kirked. You're going to be kirked... You're going to be the next Kirk,'" he told Bet-David. "They're saying you're the next you'll be the next Kirk... stopping at intersections and coming after me and trying to attack me."

Family members have also been affected. "My little sister is getting phone calls... from like the news," he said. "Some news in India they doxxed my home. They doxxed my dad."

Regardless, Shirley defended his work. "I didn't make this a right or left issue. I just showed you guys that fraud was happening... I'm not a racist. I'm just telling you what the facts are. Call us a racist. I do not care because I'm not a racist," he declared.

Bet-David praised Shirley's resolve. "I applaud your courage... You can't teach courage," the host remarked.
