Petty’s latest controversy follows a September 2023 legal incident, where he was sentenced to 120 days of home detention for violating his probation by threatening rapper Offset on social media.

This incident added to Petty’s long list of legal troubles; he was already on probation for failing to register as a sex offender after his 2019 marriage to Minaj and their subsequent move to California.

His probation sentence includes three years of supervised release, one year of home detention, and a hefty $55,000 fine.

But Petty’s controversial past doesn’t end there. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, a conviction that resulted in a decade-long sentence, of which he served seven years before his release in 2013.

Despite the dark cloud of Petty's past, his connection with Minaj has always seemed deeply rooted in their shared history.

The two attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City, and they rekindled their relationship in 2018.

Minaj has often spoken fondly of the comfort she finds in their long-standing connection.

Kenneth Petty’s words stirred controversy with several viewers taking a diss at the 'Barbie World' rapper's husband, especially his troubled legacy. 

A particular viewer expressed, "Just insulted her entire male fanbase".

Following suit, another observer added, "It’s giving the popular girl who says she’s for the gays but let her boyfriend say slurs while she laughs."
