Nicole Kidman recalls being warned about marrying Tom Cruise as it could derail her career
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicole Kidman has recently opened up about her marriage to Tom Cruise, revealing that she was warned against it.
The ‘Babygirl’ star was married to Cruise from 1991 to 2001, and the two share two adopted children — daughter Isabella and son Connor.

Kidman sat down for an interview with British Vogue, where she revealed why it is very important to remember whom you are marrying at a young age. The actress was in her early 20s when she exchanged vows with the ‘Top Gun’ star after they met in 1989 during the filming of ‘Days of Thunder’.
“You have to remember literally, because of who I married at such a young age, I was thrust into it since I was 22… [My life has been] more time like that than not. My memory of it not being that is quite blurry, because I was really young,” she shared.

‘The Others’ actress further explained that she “got married so young. Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural.”
“We just fell madly in love and it was that simple. I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married,’” she told the publication, before adding, “And then I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.’”
This was not the first time Kidman had talked about her marriage to Cruise. In 2013, she told Vanity Fair, “I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.”

The recent Vogue interview came a few months after her former husband praised her in an interview and even disclosed that it was him who suggested Kidman for the role of free-spirited Alice Harford in Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.
The 64-year-old said, “I flew out to his house, and I landed in his backyard. I read the script the day before and we spent the day talking about it. I knew all of his films.”
“Then it was basically he and I getting to know each other. And when we were doing that, I suggested Nicole play the role [of Alice]. Because, obviously, she’s a great actress,” Cruise added.
