WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump sat down with CBS News anchor Norah O'Donnell for a '60 Minutes' interview that aired on Sunday, November 2.

Social media users criticized both the network and O'Donnell for what they called a lack of respect, claiming she addressed the president as “Mr Trump” instead of using his official title.

Trump’s return to CBS followed the settlement of a $16 million lawsuit. In July, CBS’s parent company, Paramount, agreed to pay the amount to resolve Trump’s claim that the network had unfairly highlighted Kamala Harris in a previous '60 Minutes' segment.

Norah O'Donnell didn't call Trump 'Mr President'

During the introduction of the CBS segment, host Norah O'Donnell said, “It’s been five years since President Trump appeared for an interview on '60 Minutes.' A lot has happened since then, not least of which was his political comeback and triumphant return to the White House on Friday.”

“Hours after he touched down from his whirlwind trip to Asia, Mr Trump agreed to sit down with us for a wide-ranging conversation,” the host continued.

The long-running CBS news program featured an exclusive interview with President Donald Trump, where O'Donnell pressed him with pointed questions about his administration and recent political moves. Yet, beyond the sharp exchanges, what truly caught viewers’ attention was the way the host addressed the 79-year-old president.

Internet slams CBS network for disrespecting Trump

Social media users were quick to call out CBS and host Norah O'Donnell for what they viewed as a disrespectful slip in addressing the president during his '60 Minutes' interview.

“I hate when they call him ‘Mr Trump!’ He is the PRESIDENT. 60 Minutes doesn’t deserve to interview him, let’s see how they spin this,” one user wrote.

“There is nothing different on 60 Minutes tonight. Norah O’Donnell is as adversarial as ever. She is rude, snarly, and makes her positions apparent. I do not see CBS getting any better anytime soon,” another user commented.

“This 60 Minutes interview is starting off with the interviewer repeatedly calling him ‘Mr Trump,’” one viewer noted.

Another user commented, “So on 60 Minutes tonight, the interviewer Norah refers to our President as ‘Mr Trump.’ What disrespect the liberal media demonstrates.”

“Yo CBS 60 Minutes, he’s President Trump, not Mr Trump. Gosh, you suck,” another user posted.

“60 Minutes is a disgraceful excuse of a show. She is such a classless person who purposely keeps calling him Mr Trump. Does anyone even watch this crappy show anymore if President Trump isn’t on?” another user wrote.

“Did you notice Norah O'Donnell repeatedly referred to President Trump as ‘Mr Trump’ tonight on 60 Minutes? CBS is FAKE NEWS!!” one user exclaimed.

“The 60 Minutes interview was not an interview. Shame on Norah O’Donnell. Shame on CBS,” another comment read.
