Meghan Markle 'pushing for an apology' from royal family before returning to UK, claims source
LONDON, ENGLAND: Meghan Markle is allegedly "pushing for an apology" from the royal family before leaving for the United Kingdom, following reports that she turned down an invitation for her and her kids to visit.
The Duchess of Sussex is reported to have turned down an alleged invitation to visit Prince Harry's hometown in May after it was conveyed that they would need to bring their kids.
Given there has been a shift in relationships since King Charles III and Prince William's wife Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, sources contend, however, that it is unlikely the royal family would issue an apology very soon.
Meghan Markle allegedly 'pushing for an apology' from the royal family
The 42-year-old 'Suits' alum has a tense relationship with several of her husband's senior family members, and she has even revealed the struggles in various profitable ventures over the past few years.
According to royal experts, reconciliation between the two camps is unlikely to occur until Meghan receives an apology from the Firm, despite claims that Harry intends to "reconcile" with his family during a forthcoming trip to London.
Royal experts claimed that until the royal family issues a genuine apology, the Duchess of Sussex will not accept the royal family's offer to travel with Prince Harry to England the following month.
"I think that she is pushing for an apology," royal commentator Charlotte Griffiths told GB News, before adding, "She’s been pushing for that for quite a long time, although there have been reports from the Sussex camp that she has sort of given up on an apology."
Given that King Charles III is suffering from cancer, the royalist believes Meghan's reservations will not stop the 39-year-old Duke of Sussex from making efforts to make amends with his family.
"I don’t think that she is actually blocking him from seeing his family though; we know that he came to see his dad when his dad was ill, and we know that he is coming over again in May," Griffiths added.
Sources claim Prince Harry will probably make an effort to appease everyone
Amid the King's illness and Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis, Prince Harry will probably attempt to appease both his wife and his senior family members—despite the long-standing gap that surfaced during the Sussexes' 2020 exit.
"Harry would like a reconciliation but supports his wife completely, and until she feels that the royal family have been sufficiently nice to her — and grovelingly apologized for the past — it’s not going to happen" royal author Tom Quinn earlier told The Mirror.
Quinn continued: "There has been a shift here since Kate’s illness. Harry and Meghan do feel they need to extend an olive branch, but Meghan’s sense of grievance is still preventing anything really meaningful happening."
"Illness often brings warring family members together. And there have been hopes at Kensington Palace that Kate’s illness might do it," Quinn said.
Since Queen Elizabeth's burial in September 2022, the former 'Suits' actress has not set foot in England.
Due to safety concerns, Harry and Meghan did not bring their kids along, as the Sussexes were no longer eligible for taxpayer-funded security protection in the UK, per the New York Post.
