LACONIA, NEW HAMPSHIRE: An 18-year-old Turning Point Action volunteer was allegedly slapped across the face by an older man during a confrontation at a New Hampshire polling location on November 3, as voters headed to the polls for the 2026 midterm elections.

The incident took place at Woodland Heights School in Laconia and was captured in a video shared by Turning Point Action on X. The footage shows the older man shouting and swearing at the volunteer before making an obscene gesture and striking him across the face.

The teenager appeared to remain calm during the exchange, while the man walked away after the slap. The reason behind the confrontation remains unclear.

Police investigate incident at Woodland Heights School

The Belknap County Republican Committee said police had been called and were investigating the incident. In a Facebook statement, the committee described the individual as an older male who initially engaged the volunteer verbally before the confrontation turned physical.

Laconia Mayor Mike Bordes also confirmed that the incident occurred in the city and condemned the alleged assault.

“Disgusting this happened at ward 5 in Laconia,” Bordes wrote on X.

The incident drew reactions from political figures and commentators online, including former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who criticised the alleged assault and called for law enforcement to act.

Police had not announced an arrest or released further details about the investigation in the reports available.
