WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN: Former President Donald Trump confirmed that he wanted to go to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, to join his supporters who attacked the building to stop certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 victory.

Addressing his supporters at a campaign rally in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, May 1, the presumptive GOP nominee said he asked the Secret Service agent to take him to the Capitol, according to The Hill.

Complaining about his legal battles, Trump shifted his speech to mock the legislators who investigated the Jan 6 Capitol riots.

"Remember the person that said I attacked a Secret Service agent in the front of the car? It's not my deal. I'm a lover, not a fighter," the White House hopeful said. "Remember that? And these are tough guys. You know these Secret Service guys, I hate to admit it, they're slightly younger than me. Just slightly."

Trump was ridiculeing former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony to a congressional panel where she claimed to have heard from others that Trump "lunged" for the steering wheel of the SUV after his January 6, 2021, speech near the White House to move the vehicle toward the Capitol apparently.

Trump's confirmation

Speaking to his supporters at Waukesha, Trump dismissed Hutchinson's claims and confirmed his intention to go to the Capitol that day.

"This is crazy stuff. I sat in the back, and you know what I did say, I said 'I'd like to go down there because I see a lot of people walking down,'" he recalled. "They said, 'Sir, it's better if you don't.' I said, 'Well, I'd like to … whatever you guys think.' That was the whole one of the conversation. These people are crazy."

Trump's actions on Jan 6, when his supporters unleashed a violent attack on the Capitol interrupting the certification of Biden's 2020 victory, is the basis of the indictment against him in Washington, DC, which special counsel Jack Smith is investigating.

However, the person who drove Trump's car on Jan 6 disagreed with Hutchinson's testimony. According to the unnamed driver, the former president "never grabbed the steering wheel."

"I didn't see him, you know, lunge to try to get into the front seat at all," he testified to the Jan 6 committee's investigators, according to a report released by the House Republicans.

The New York Times reviewed a copy of the report released earlier this year, indicating the driver supported the ex-White House aide's statement that Trump demanded the driver and Bobby Engel, the head of former President Trump's security detail, insisting he wanted to join the supporters at the Capitol.

"The president was insistent on going to the Capitol," the anonymous driver recounted.

Internet mocks Trump

Trump faced intense trolling for revealing he wanted to go to the Capitol building on January 6, 2021.

One user wrote, "Operation Blabbermouth once again a success." Another remarked, "His team worked so hard to deny this lol."

"Right now his people are saying Holy crap..get him off the stage," a third user added. Meanwhile, a fourth response read, "'Whatever you guys think is fine…' He for sure tried to grab the wheel and make them turn around."

"Give him a microphone and enough time and he'll confess to everything, but as a boast," someone else quipped. An individual wrote, "And…this is why his lawyers don’t want him talking, because he invariably confesses."

Another mocking remark read, "He's forgetting that he's supposed to lie."
