Outrage as Alec Baldwin receives lifetime achievement award at 42nd Torino Film Festival
TURIN, ITALY: Alec Baldwin was honored with the Lifetime Award at the 42nd Torino Film Festival held in Turin, Italy, but not everyone is happy about it.
The 66-year-old actor received the Stella della Mole for his remarkable acting career on Monday, November 25, in Italy.
His appearance at the Torino Film Festival came months after he was cleared of involuntary manslaughter charges related to the death of ‘Rust’ cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, per Daily Mail. However, several fans voiced their displeasure with the honor and criticized the ‘Boss Baby’ actor for accepting the award.
What is Alec Baldwin doing now?
While Alec Baldwin skipped the emotional ‘Rust’ premiere at the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival in Torun, Poland on Wednesday, November 20, he was present at the Torino Film Festival to collect the award.
Dressed impeccably in a pair of charcoal grey trousers and a navy blazer with a matching grey and navy striped tie, Baldwin was present in person to collect the award.
The ‘Beetlejuice’ actor was embroiled in a legal tussle for years after a tragic accident took the life of ‘Rust’ cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on October 21, 2021.
The ‘Still Alice’ star was holding a prop gun, which somehow was loaded with live rounds.
As Hutchins attempted to show Baldwin the way she wanted him to pose, the prop gun went off, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.
While the actor said he mourned Hutchins’ death, he denied responsibility for the crew member’s death. Recently, he was cleared of the involuntary manslaughter charges on a technicality.
Despite the tribulations, the actor is not retracting into the shadows and has been making multiple efforts to relaunch his career.

Internet voices displeasure over Alec Baldwin's Lifetime Award
The internet expressed anger over Alec Baldwin receiving the Lifetime Award at the 42nd Torino Film Festival, with many social media users demanding for canceling the actor.
One of the readers commented online, "What did he do to deserve that?!?! I could not name one movie he was in."
"However you feel about the level of blame that should be attributed to Baldwin over the shooting, this is in extremely poor taste. Someone that isn't a narcissist would quietly retire rather than lobby for awards," said someone else.
Another user added, "Shame on the person who nominated him for the award. And shame on him for accepting it."
"They will give an award to anyone! No talent needed!" chimed in another user.
"While I firmly believe what happened on the set of Rust was a terrible accident, this still sems wildly inappropriate considering...," someone else added.
Another user questioned, "Is this one of those prizes you can buy.....like a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?"
"I think we should ask his murder-victim's widower what he thinks about him getting awarded for killing his wife then acting as though he did nothing wrong," said someone else.
Another individual remarked, "Disgraceful & disrespectful to the poor woman & her family."
"Needs cancelling....," demanded someone else.
"He should be doing time in prison…. And imagine giving that an award …. The worlds gone crazy," said another disgruntled user.
A comment read, "Unreal , the guy shoots and kills someone he’s getting awards now."
"Kill people, get awarded .....Wow , totally the wrong message to send out," raged one user.
