LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Patrick J Adams, best known for his role as Mike Ross on 'Suits', has opened up about his changing feelings toward the show, admitting that he didn’t feel truly proud of his work until its recent resurgence.

In a candid conversation on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s 'Dinner’s on Me' podcast, which aired on November 26, the actor, 43, shared his evolving perspective on the show that made him a household name.

“I don’t know that I was [proud] before,” Adams confessed. “I think what we’re doing with the podcast is maybe trying to check into that a little bit more. The pride. Not pride solely, but gratitude and joy around it and be like, ‘Look at what we did. This is really good.’”

His comments reflect the personal journey he has experienced, particularly as the 'Suits' fandom has seen a revival.

Adams, who starred in the legal drama from 2011 to 2018, explained that he hadn’t initially watched much of the show after it aired.

“I would get too in my head,” he admitted. However, it wasn’t until the show’s unexpected resurgence in 2023 that his view on 'Suits' changed.

“Something about the resurgence a couple of years ago and then seeing that all these people were doing these rewatch shows and thinking like, ‘Wait a minute. We could do that? Like, it would be fun,’” he said.

This shift led to the creation of 'Sidebar', the rewatch podcast he co-hosts with costar Sarah Rafferty, where they reflect on their time working on the show.

The resurgence of 'Suits' is largely attributed to the impact of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which brought the show to a new audience.

“It certainly reached a whole new audience of people, and all the people who watched it the first time, watched it again,” Adams explained. He noted the shift in public interest, admitting, “I felt it in the world … suddenly people were interested in Mike Ross again. I was like, ‘What’s happening? I thought this was over.’”

'Suits', which follows the story of Mike Ross, a college dropout who uses his photographic memory to land a job at New York’s top law firm, Pearson Hardman, became a cultural phenomenon during its run. The series also starred Gabriel Macht as the suave Harvey Specter, along with other fan favorites like Meghan Markle, Gina Torres, Amanda Schull, and Dule Hill.

The show's resurgence has even sparked new projects. In July 2023, NBCUniversal announced a spinoff titled 'Suits L.A.', which will feature a new cast led by Stephen Amell.

However, Adams hasn’t ruled out the possibility of returning to the 'Suits' universe. “If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again,” Adams said during the Golden Globes preshow in January.

“I love the show, I love the character. And I loved working with all these people. … Who knows, maybe he’ll show up one day in L.A.”
