Patrick Mahomes' barber reveals dejected Chiefs star wanted to cut off all his hair after Super Bowl loss

LUBBOCK, TEXAS: Patrick Mahomes is turning heads with his new haircut, leaving fans excited for a "new era!"

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, were spotted at a college basketball game between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Houston Cougars on Monday, February 24, where his fresh look caught everyone's attention.

This makeover comes on the heels of the Chiefs' heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Now, Patrick's longtime barber has revealed that the quarterback thought of cutting off all his hair following the Super Bowl loss.

DeJuan Bonds, who has been Patrick Mahomes' trusted barber for years, told Us Weekly that he had to talk the 29-year-old athlete out of making any impulsive decisions during his heightened emotional state.

Bonds explained, "The whole time that I’ve been cutting his hair, he just lets me do what I do. But when he asked for a change, he basically was like, 'Just cut me all off.'" 

However, the barber persuaded Mahomes to take a more thoughtful approach, saying, "I was like, ‘No, no, no. We’re not just going to cut it all off. We’re actually going to collab on this and go a little bit at a time, take it a little bit down." They eventually agreed on a new look that both were happy with. 

"We kind of came to a common ground like, ‘OK, this is the cut, this is the cut, this is the length.’ It was a collaboration on this last one," Bonds added. 

Mahomes debuted his new haircut at his grandfather’s funeral on February 17, just a week after the Super Bowl. He later made a public appearance with his wife, Brittany, at the Houston Cougars vs Texas Tech Red Raiders game, where his fresh haircut was on full display. 

Sporting a red-and-black branded Texas Tech jacket and a black T-shirt, Patrick looked ready for the next chapter. Brittany also embraced the spirit of his husband's alma mater, wearing black jeans and a cropped red coat.

Images of Patrick Mahomes sporting the new haircut sparked a flurry of comments from his admirers. 

One wrote, "New era, new hair 🔥🙌," and another said, "My king cut his hair off it’s over for the league." 

A person gushed over her new look, writing, "Pat looking 21 again," while one more shared, "The return gonna be epic."

"Good it’s time to grow up my guy. We all got to cut it off sooner or later," read another comment. 

A Chiefs fan wrote, "Pat lookin tuff wit the new cut, he boutta run it up next year, go chiefs!" while one more added, "LOVE the haircut!👏😍." One more stated, "Damn you looking Sharp."
