Patrick Mahomes trolled as he snubs teammate Samaje Perine while shaking hands with team after Super Bowl

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes seemed to snub teammate Samaje Perine while shaking hands with his other teammates following a heartbreaking loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9.

In one of the most important games of his career, with the opportunity to secure a three-peat for the Chiefs, Mahomes gave arguably one of the worst performances of his career, according to Mirror.

In the clip that has gone viral since the Kansas City Chiefs loss, Patrick Mahomes seemed to skip Perine as he made his way down the bench after the 40-22 loss at Caesars Superdome.

The video showed Perine, who signed with Kansas City in August last year, stood up and stepped up for a handshake, but the star quarterback went by him for tight end Travis Kelce as if Perine didn't exist.

Notably, Perine is a veteran NFL player who has earlier played for the Washington Commanders, Cincinnati Bengals, and Denver Broncos in prior seasons, according to Fox News. 

Mahomes said after the defeat to the Eagles, "There's no way around it. Anytime you lose a Super Bowl, it's the worst thing in the world… it will stick with you the rest of your career."

He added, "I mean these will be the two losses that will motivate me to be even better, for the rest of my career. Because you only get so few of these [Super Bowls], and you have to capitalize on them."

He also said, according to Mirror, "The turnovers hurt… I take all the blame for that. Those turnovers swing the moment of the game and they capitalized on them. They scored on one and got a touchdown immediately after another. That's 14 points I gave them. It's hard to come back from that in the Super Bowl. I have to learn from that and try to be better the next opportunity that I hopefully get."

Many internet users trolled Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback appeared to snub teammate Samaje Perine while shaking hands with his other teammates after losing the Super Bowl 2025 to the Eagles.

A social media user wrote on X, "Mahomes is rude and arrogant acting like a spoiled child because his team lost. You can't always win!" while one added, "Extremely poor show.....Mahomes is the so called leader of the team and should never leave anyone out!!!"

One person stated, "He's still mad about the 2015 game when he was the QB at Texas Tech and Perine ran for 201 and four touchdowns on them," whereas another commented, "That’s not good sportsmanship and it’s not a class act. Your team IS your team! This is football game. Greed… so they don’t get as much $$$. That’s not leadership it’s not how you treat your team members. It’s a bad example."

One person declared, "I’ve always liked Perine myself, going back to his days in Washington. Seems disrespectful to me on PM’s part," while another wrote, "Disgusting behavior."
