LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pedro Pascal is admitting how his stint at the 1999’s ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ saved him from homelessness.
Earlier this month, upon winning the SAG Award, Pascal was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight per Us Weekly, where he reflected on how the role saved him from being destitute in 1999 and saved his career in Hollywood.
Pedro Pascal admits ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ saved him
Pedro Pascal opened up about his financial struggles in the early days of his career as he reminisced how a single life changed his life.
Speaking to the news outlet, the 48-year-old actor shared candidly, “My entry level lasted about 15 years.”
The ‘Narcos’ actor recalled the financial stress he faced at that time, saying, “We’re talking about being able to see a doctor, getting sick, having surgery, paying my rent.”
“I had less than $7 in my bank account and a residual from Buffy the Vampire Slayer showed up and saved the day and is the reason I was able to stay in [Hollywood] and not give up,” accepted Pascal.
Pascal appeared on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ at the season four premiere as Eddie. Pascal’s Eddie was a freshman at UC Sunnydale who became friends with Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy.
Their friendship, however, could not last long as Eddie was turned into a vampire by a group of undead goths, leading Buffy to drive a stake into his heart.
Sarah Michelle Gellar shared throwback photo
In February 2023, Gellar, 46, posted a throwback photo of the duo from the show to give a shoutout to her former costar. Interestingly, she captioned the photo with “When #Mother met #Father.”
For the unversed, Gellar has earned the moniker of “#Mother” after playing a series of iconic roles in ‘Scream 2’ and ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ apart from her titular role in ‘Buffy’.

Pascal, on his part, has been termed as “#Father” after playing father figures to Grogu and Ellie in ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Last of Us’ respectively.
As Pascal was told about Gellar’s sweet shoutout, Pascal exclaimed and told the interviewer, per Us Weekly, “Sarah Michelle Gellar posted about me? I need to get on the World Wide Web.”
He also shared one of his fond memories from the sets when Gellar shared with him the sweet treat she was enjoying.
He recalled, “She had ice cream in her trailer, and she gave me some. I had to have lunch in the vamp mask. I remember everything.”
In another interview with Access Hollywood per BuzzFeed, Pascal brought up the same episode, and said, "What I just found out that I'm very excited about, and I can't wait to get my phone back so I can look it up myself — Sarah Michelle Gellar remembers me!"
"I want her to know that I remember every moment of shooting that episode, as brief as it was," he gushed before adding, "She was such a kind scene partner, and we had the best time."
