'People are worried': Tiffany Haddish's second DUI arrest left inner circle 'disturbed', source claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: According to insiders, comedian Tiffany Haddish's friends and family are 'deeply disturbed' by her behavior after a Georgia judge imposed further bail restrictions on her after her second DUI.
The comedian's friends and family are reportedly extremely worried by the California episode, especially since it was almost similar to her arrest in Georgia, while Georgian prosecutors supposedly concurred, as per Radar Online.
Although Haddish, 44, made light of her most recent arrest, her loved ones believe that the two infractions are not to be laughed at.
'People are worried for both her career and her safety'
Many of Haddish's fans and industry insiders were concerned about her future when she was arrested for the second DUI in two years.
On November 24, 2023, Haddish was taken into custody in Beverly Hills, California by the police when they spotted her dozing off in her vehicle in the middle of the street.
It was reported that she was doing a free Thanksgiving show at a comedy club in West Hollywood. Haddish was seen being handcuffed and led to the police cruiser by two cops in the video released by TMZ.
She was taken into custody in Peachtree City, Georgia, in January 2022 for a comparable infraction after it was discovered that she had fallen asleep behind the wheel on a freeway.
Police accused her of DUI because they suspected she was high on marijuana. Haddish had to pay a $1,666 bond before being allowed to leave detention.
Georgia prosecutors requested that the 'The Girls Trip' actress have her bond modified to forbid her from using drugs or alcohol following her arrest in Beverly Hills. She now has to submit to arbitrary drug testing or risk having her $1,666 bond canceled.
An insider told the National Enquirer, "People are worried for both her career and her safety!"
Adding insult to injury to Haddish's situation is her choice to utilize her second arrest as part of a recent stand-up performance.
Haddish joked with the crowd about her second arrest and said, "I prayed to God to send me a man with a job, a career, preferably in uniform. God answered my prayers!"
Insiders reported that although she parodied the joke from her first DUI arrest, she is aware behind the scenes that her expanding criminal record is nothing to laugh at.
Tiffany Haddish's friends earlier expressed concerns for her welfare
After Haddish's second arrest in Beverly Hills, friends close to the comedian-turned-actress have earlier expressed concern for her well-being, per Radar Online.
Remarkably, Haddish wasted no time in returning to the stage; the very next day after arrest, she made light of the situation during a performance at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California.
A close friend of Haddish said at the time, "As soon as I heard it, I said ‘god----, I’m glad she’s okay.'"
"But it seems weird to me. You would think that someone would have a driver in that situation. This is tough because there’s nothing anybody’s gonna say to take away that this is her second offense," the friend added.
"The way people look at drinking and driving. Hopefully there’s a lesson to be learned. If people want to be critical, I say f– that — you don’t know what a person is going through. You don’t know what’s troubling a person."
Tiffany Haddish to learn 'balance and boundaries'
According to insiders, following her initial incarceration, the comedian made a promise to give up alcohol. Haddish now acknowledges that she requires professional counsel, saying, "I'm going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries."
Another source stated, "She's scared she won't be able to get the drinking under control. She's always been the life of the party — but you rarely ever saw her without a drink in her hand."
Haddish's choice to seek professional therapy following her consecutive DUI offenses is reportedly supported by sources.
"Tiffany knows her drinking has damaged her reputation badly," said a tipster. "Casting agents are thinking twice about putting their projects in her hands."
"She needs to convince herself —and everyone else — she's beating this," added the informant.
The comedian has experienced personal hardships before. She has been candid about the difficult childhood she had, which includes her father's divorce and her mother's mental health problems.
Haddish suffered from bullying and she even went so far as to shave off a mole on her forehead to escape more mockery.
Haddish overcame her troubles and went on to become a great comedian and actor despite having a difficult past.
