Piers Morgan, 60, said he fell at a hotel restaurant, resulting in a serious hip injury that required surgery. He said he will be on crutches for six weeks and must avoid long flights for three months, according to Grand Pinnacle Tribune.

In a lighthearted post, Morgan listed details of the accident in a ten-point update, ending with a joke about Donald Trump. He described the post as playful and said his main focus is recovering from the operation.

According to Grand Pinnacle Tribune, doctors advised him to avoid long-distance flights for at least 12 weeks, and he will rely on crutches for six weeks as he begins a slow recovery. Despite the setback, Morgan’s humor and upbeat attitude have remained intact, with fans sending messages of support.

Piers Morgan and Trump’s long public history

For those unfamiliar with the on-and-off relationship between Donald Trump and Piers Morgan, their connection dates back to 2008, when Morgan won the first season of Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.

"Piers, you're a vicious guy," Trump said while announcing the winner. "I've seen it. You're tough. You're smart. You're probably brilliant. I'm not sure. You're almost certainly not diplomatic. But you did an amazing job. And you beat the hell out of everybody." "You're the Celebrity Apprentice," as per Spectator Australia.

Morgan has, at times, maintained a public admiration for Trump. When Trump won the 2016 presidential election, Morgan reportedly echoed some of Trump’s own words in a congratulatory message. "Well, Donald, you're a vicious guy," Morgan wrote. "I've seen it. You're tough. You're smart. You're probably brilliant. I'm not sure. You're certainly not diplomatic. But you did an amazing job. And you beat the hell out of everybody. You're the president of the United States."

Since then, Morgan has made several public statements about Trump, the latest coming on Sunday, January 18. On X, he wrote, "Britain should repurchase America," criticizing Trump’s threat of 10% to 25% tariffs on countries conducting anti-American exercises in Greenland. "After all, it was ours once, and it would enhance our North Atlantic security.

"If you don't sell it to us, President Trump, we're going to impose tariffs on the US and any country who supports you in resisting this very good deal. Fair?"
