Post Malone faces backlash for his 'terrible' performance during 2024 CMA Awards
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Post Malone's debut on the 2024 CMA Awards stage was met with criticism as fans expressed disappointment.
The artist, known for his genre-defying approach, kicked off the star-studded event with Chris Stapleton, performing their collaboration, 'California Sober', from Malone’s 'F-1 Trillion' album.
Later, he took the stage solo, delivering 'Yours', an emotional ballad dedicated to his daughter.
Fans demand 'end' to Post Malone's Country Act after 'awful' performance
While the live audience at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena applauded Post Malone's performance, online viewers were far less forgiving.
According to OK! Magazine, one user on X sharply criticized the performance, writing, “The dogs in my neighborhood just stopped howling after that god-awful performance by @postmalone.”
Another chimed in, “I’m embarrassed to admit I’m watching the ACMs & Post Malone sounds like he just got over laryngitis.”
One viewer expressed, "So disappointed in the show."
Criticism extended beyond his vocal delivery, with fans questioning Malone’s place in the country music genre.

I love Post Malone… but he sounded like straight doodoo tonight at the #CMAwards. Should’ve stayed with pop/hip-hop

Post Malone's emotional CMA tribute to daughter steals spotlight despite backlash
Despite the online backlash, Post Malone’s presence at the CMAs marked a pivotal moment in his career.
His latest album, his first foray into country music, represents a significant departure for the artist.
Songs like 'I Had Some Help', a collaboration with Morgan Wallen, garnered critical acclaim and multiple nominations, including Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
During his performance, Malone ended 'Yours' with an emotional tribute to his daughter, affectionately known as DeeDee, as per Billboard, to which CMA awards tweeted, "not a dry eye."

“We love you, DeeDee, we love you so much,” he said, while fellow artist Jelly Roll supported him from the audience with a heart gesture.
In a candid conversation with GQ, Malone also expressed his hope that his daughter would one day cherish the song.
“She’s going to have to like my music, I think, [or] she’s going to get used to it,” he said. “I know everybody at the house plays it for her, and hopefully, it’ll get stuck in her head.
Kids love my music for some reason, which is awesome, so I’m hoping she just goes with the flow on that one.”
Post Malone's protective parenting and sobriety journey
Fame hasn’t overshadowed Malone’s commitment to protecting his family’s privacy.
Speaking to CR Fashion Book in 2023, he revealed his stance on shielding his daughter from public scrutiny.
“I feel like a lot of people feel entitled to know every single detail of everyone’s life, and it’s why I don’t want to post any pictures of my baby. I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and is ready.”
The artist has also been open about striving to be a more present father.
Reportedly, reflecting on his parenting journey during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Malone admitted, “I guess not being able to be there for my baby, which is a new fear."
"That’s why I tried to slow down on drinking, to take better care of my body.”
