NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Rep Pramila Jayapal (D-Wa) shared her reaction to President Joe Biden suspending his reelection campaign and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination, during her appearance on the Monday, July 22 episode of 'The View.'

Accompanied by co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, the Congresswoman called upon Democrats to rally behind Harris, as well as praised incumbent Biden for his "incredible accomplishments" during his time in the White House.

Pramila Jayapal on Joe Biden's legacy

"(Biden) is a remarkable human being," stated Jayapal when Navarro asked her how she felt history would remember Joe Biden. "He's never forgotten where he came from, and he never forgot that he was going to have people's backs- working people, poor people."

"So it isn't just the list of incredible accomplishments, (like) getting infrastructure done, taking on climate change, bringing unemployment down to the lowest levels. It is also the fact that he changed the way government functions so we can stand up for the working people in this country- people who had kind of forgotten that that's actually our role in government... to stand for everyone. No matter where you are, no matter how much you earn... you have the opportunity to make a life for yourself that is decent."

"Joe Biden is a deeply decent man. And he fought hard for a vision of America that, in my view, really is the most progressive vision that we have seen from an American president in my lifetime, (and) was really effective," she continued, adding that his decision to step down was "selfless" and the country "owes him a deep debt of gratitude."

With Biden naming Harris his successor, Jayapal claimed, "We now have our marching orders... (Harris) is going to be the next President of the United States, but to make that happen we're all going to have to do the work. We're all going to have to go out, (and) beat back all the naysayers."

"Sure, it's going to be hard- it's a presidential election. And that means we need everybody to be mobilizing their communities, organizing in their communities, making sure that they are coming out with the real accomplishments of Vice President Harris. She was remarkably accomplished both before she became the VP, (and) she has been a partner in the Biden-Harris administration. She is part of why we got so much done in the last four years, and she has the agenda for the next four years," shared the Congresswoman.

"What she needs is our faith in her, and our willingness to fight back for her, as we hear all of misogynistic, sexist, racist attacks on her. We gotta be ready," she added.
