‘Pretty Little Liars’ star Keegan Allen pistol-whipped and robbed at gunpoint in West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star Keegan Allen was reportedly robbed at gunpoint by two men in West Hollywood on Thursday, October 8. The armed robbers, who were also reportedly carrying a knife, allegedly struck the actor in the face with a pistol, leaving his face covered in blood.
TMZ, citing a representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, reported that the incident occurred on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. Allen received treatment for a head laceration after the incident.
Keegan Allen's watch and bracelet were stolen during the robbery
According to the report, the two men, who were dressed in black, demanded Allen's watch and bracelet. One of the suspects allegedly struck him in the face with a handgun before the pair fled with his watch.
Paramedics arrived at the scene after the incident, and Allen received treatment for his head injury.
Keegan Allen says West Hollywood is not safe anymore
The 37-year-old actor and photographer recounted the incident in a video he posted on his Instagram page.
He said, “I was just robbed of my watch outside Laurel Supply,” referring to a popular grocery store and eatery, before adding, “These two dudes hit me in the head and pointed a gun at me with a knife and then took off.”
Allen's video also included apparent surveillance footage of the confrontation. He added, “West Hollywood is not safe anymore. Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight.”
“My life for a watch. Will update more soon. Let's hope all these flock cameras that @karenbassla @gavinnewsom and everyone thinks will stop crime can find these very dangerous criminals. God bless,” he added, appearing to criticize California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass over the effectiveness of surveillance cameras in preventing crime.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigates the West Hollywood robbery
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department released a statement describing how the suspects allegedly carried out the robbery. It read, “One suspect pointed a silver handgun at the victim while the other pointed a knife and demanded the victim's watch and bracelet. Shortly after, the victim was struck in the face with the handgun.”
West Hollywood city officials also issued a statement, noting, “West Hollywood is a compassionate and engaged community, and news of this violent robbery is deeply upsetting and unsettling. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is actively investigating this incident, and additional patrols will be conducted by sheriff's deputies and the city's security ambassadors.”
A West Hollywood resident expressed shock over the incident while speaking to Eyewitness News.
“It's sad, it's terrible, I mean it's unfortunate... These incidents are happening on a daily reoccurring basis. It needs to end. I mean, good people don't want this, nobody wants to live like this. We pay too much money to live here.”
