MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: The royals have a remarkable talent: they can make uncomfortable moments disappear faster than you can say "scandal," as Princess Margaret’s ex-husband- 2nd Earl of Snowdon, once pointed out.

In Craig Brown's new book, 'A Voyage Around the Queen,' it is revealed that the names Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are seldom mentioned within the palace, and when they are, it's rarely in a positive light.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle labeled as 'persons who live overseas'

According to Ok Magazine, Royal expert Gyles Brandreth noted, “These days, the names of Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, do not crop up very often in court circles… When they do, courtiers flinch almost imperceptibly and change the subject — or, if that's not possible, refer to them obliquely as 'persons who live overseas.’”

He added, “Mention the Sussexes to other members of the royal family... and they simply smile briefly and say, 'We wish them all the best,' and nothing else.”

When it comes to a potential reunion between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the British royal family, it's not just the public controversies that stand in the way—two less visible issues, security concerns, and fractured family unity, are making such a reunion highly unlikely.

Prince Harry has openly expressed his concerns about his family's safety, especially in light of the threats they face in the UK.

After losing their taxpayer-funded security upon stepping back from royal duties, Prince Harry has pushed to have police protection reinstated, citing credible threats against Meghan and their children, Archie and Lilibet.

He emphasized that the situation remains "hazardous," noting that it only takes "one individual influenced by what they read" to act on harmful intentions, according to The News.

The rift between Harry and the royal family has deepened due to numerous public accusations made by the couple, including revelations in Harry's memoir, 'Spare,' and their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Newsweek reports suggest that Harry is open to reconciliation, particularly if King Charles III can help address his security concerns.

Royal expert describes Sussex-royal relations as a 'mess'

Adding to the complexity, royal expert Sarah Hewson describes the relationship between Team Sussex and senior members of the monarchy as "a mess, and a very sorry mess."

“He’s met Lilibet once and Archie just a handful of times,” Hewson noted. “That's sad. Obviously, geography plays a part in that, we aren't going to see the King jumping on a plane to California to see them. We know things with the Waleses and the Sussexes are extremely tense. I don't see any signs of any thawing there — and it's really not a priority.”

Adding another layer, both the King and Kate, the Princess of Wales, are dealing with delicate health issues, making it clear that the Sussexes’ presence would “quite obviously” add stress to the royal fold.

Hewson concluded, “One of the things the Waleses really want to focus on now is keeping things calm, stress levels down, during the Princess' recuperation. I really don't think a reunion with Harry and Meghan is going to do anything for stress levels, and it's just not their focus."

According to The Royal Observer, royal author Tom Quinn disclosed that while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did send a message of sympathy to Prince William, it lacked any gesture of reconciliation.

The message did not include any mention of reconciliation, moving past their differences, or any indication that Prince Harry might return to the UK soon.

Any hopes for a cordial reunion seem to be unrealistic, as the rift between the brothers remains firmly entrenched.
