LONDON, ENGLAND: Prince Harry misses "being a working royal" and is "getting very bored in California," revealed royal author Tom Quinn.

During a recent interview with Mirror, the writer also shared insights about the Duke of Sussex's mental dilemma upon learning about the cancer diagnosis of his father, King Charles III.

Royal author claims Meghan Markle is against Prince Harry returning to the role of a part-time working royal

Quinn claimed, "Harry does miss being a working royal – being a royal is the only thing he is trained to do and he is getting very bored in California."

Notably, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their role as a working royal in January 2020 and relocated to Montecito, California, where they reside with their two children - Archie and Lilibet.

The royal writer further insinuated, "He knows that to retain his value and the interest of the world he is better off not being a retired royal so offering to come back to help out at least reminds the world who and what he is."

Quinn added that in order to get back into the royal fold, the Duke of Sussex is apparently offering to work temporarily in the UK as his father is undergoing cancer treatment. However, as per sources, his interest in coming back as a working royal was dismissed by the palace.

He noted, "Harry was apparently visibly shocked and upset when he heard that his father had cancer. Having lost his mother aged 12 he had come to assume that, whatever their ups and downs, his father would enjoy the longevity enjoyed by the late Queen and Prince Philip."

Quinn further shared, "Harry knows he will never be allowed to be a permanent part-time working royal staying six months in the States and then six months in the UK," before adding that his wife Markle is not welcoming to the idea.

The royal author explained, "The family no longer trust him and, besides, Meghan is absolutely against it. There is far too much bad blood now for it to be even a remote possibility."

Prince Harry talked about meeting King Charles III after his cancer diagnosis

During a recent appearance on 'Good Morning America' on February 16, Prince Harry candidly talked about his aspiration to work part-time as a royal.

When the Duke was asked to talk about His Majesty's health, Prince Harry replied, "That stays between me and him."

The Duke of Sussex told the 'GMA' host Will Reeve, "Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I'm grateful for that," as per the New York Post.

Commenting on the binding effects illnesses can have over families, the fifth-in-line to the British throne said, "Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis, again, the strength of the family unit coming together. I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together."

Commenting on his future plans to visit the UK to meet his family, Prince Harry noted, "I have got many trips planned that will take me through the UK or back to the UK, so I will my family as much as I can."

When asked about his view on becoming a US citizen, he said, "I have considered it, yeah. American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but is not a high priority right now."
