LONDON, UK: A royal biographer has blamed Prince Harry for damaging Meghan Markle’s relationship with Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the family.

Valentine Low has shared that the Duke of Sussex got into an argument with the Queen's dresser, Angela Kelly, on which tiara his then-to-be-wife should wear at their May 2018 wedding, as reported by OK! Magazine.

Meghan ended up wearing Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara for her big day.

Prince Harry’s demand ‘set a bad tone’

The British journalist said that Prince Harry “put pressure on Kelly to bend the rules” and used “some fairly fruity language” towards the 67-year-old fashion designer.

In his book, ‘Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown’, Low mentioned, “Harry felt that Meghan wasn't being treated as she should. Everyone should show her great respect, and here was a servant, who was being quite difficult and obstructive.”

“It set a bad tone for the marriage and relationship with the royal family,” he added, before calling the father-of-two the “heart of the problem.”

Queen Elizabeth saw Meghan Markle as a ‘great asset to the monarchy’

This came after a tipster revealed that the late monarch was quite hopeful about Meghan Markle joining the family.

They reportedly said, “Her Majesty valued Meghan and wanted her to be seen as a part of the family without delay,” as she saw the former actress as a “breath of fresh air and a great asset to the monarchy.”

However, royal correspondent Jennie Bond holds a very different view of Meghan.

He reportedly stated, “I have always held the view that Meghan failed to understand that she would never be the top dog in the royal family… or even the deputy top dog.”

“There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be in complete control and charge of your life. There's nothing wrong with seeking the limelight. It's just that the royal family was the wrong vehicle for her ambitions,” she added.

Currently, the Sussexes are settled in California with their two young children after their move to the US in 2020. However, they still hold royal titles professionally.

Commentator Phil Dampier mentioned, “To be honest, I don't think she ever intended to stay in the royal family.”

He asserted, “Unfortunately, I think she was prepared to have a wonderful wedding costing millions of pounds, but I don't think her heart was ever really in it, and I think she always planned to leave, so the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and that's what we're seeing now.”
