Prince William extended 'olive branch' to estranged brother Prince Harry during emotional moment: Insider

LONDON, ENGLAND: Prince William reportedly sent an olive branch to his estranged younger brother, Prince Harry, just days after the death of their beloved grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, according to an insider.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, an insider reflected on the strained relationship between King Charles two sons, and said that while the relationship between the Prince of Wales, 42, and the Duke of Sussex, 40, started deteriorating ever since the latter stepped down from his royal duties in 2020, the final nail in the coffin happened alongside Harry publishing his memoir ‘Spare’ in January 2023.

However, just a few months before that, William reportedly tried to mend the relationship with his young brother after the death of Queen Elizabeth.
Prince William texted Prince Harry after Queen Elizabeth’s death
According to the source, Prince William reportedly sent a message to his younger brother after the death of their grandmother. The father-of-three reportedly asked Harry to make a joint appearance at Windsor to view the floral tributes left for the late queen.
The source shared that while the plan “happened very quickly,” it ensured that the Waleses and the Sussexes gave the appearance of a united front when they ventured on the walkabout to look at the tributes, per The Mirror.
Prince William reportedly sent the text to Harry and invited him and his wife, Meghan Markle, to join him and his wife, Kate Middleton, at the sojourn at Windsor. His intention was reportedly to unite with his brother out of respect for their late grandmother.
Because of the plan, the walkabout, which was originally scheduled for 4.30 pm, was allegedly pushed by 45 minutes as the siblings made the arrangements. Following the successful planning, the two couples made a joint public appearance on The Long Walk in Windsor.
However, the source highlighted that following the apparently successful joint appearances, the two couples, formerly dubbed as the ‘Fab Four’, were never seen together again.
Prince William and Prince Harry are not reconciling anytime soon
While Prince William might have extended an olive branch in the past, royal expert Phil Dampier believes that the duo might not be reconciling anytime soon.
In 2024, during a TV programme named 'Prince William: We Can End Homelessness', the father-of-three reminisced about a time when he visited a London shelter called Passage with his mother, Princess Diana, and his brother, Harry.
He shared how the trip impacted him, which subsequently made him an advocate to end homelessness among the masses.

While his mention of Harry might have sparked speculations that things are finally easing between the feuding brothers, Dampier cautioned that it might not be happening anytime soon.
Speaking to The Sun, he said that it was more out of necessity than an attempt to reconcile. "I don't see it as any sort of major breakthrough, I'm afraid, in their relationship. Which is sadly, as far apart as ever," shared the royal family insider.
