ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Rich Homie Quan’s official cause of death has been confirmed as an accidental drug overdose, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s report released on October 1, less than a month after the rapper’s untimely death, as reported by People.

The report revealed that the 34-year-old rapper, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, had multiple substances in his system, including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, promethazine, and THC.

Lamar was found unresponsive in his Atlanta home on September 5, 2024. The autopsy showed no signs of trauma, and his death was ruled an accident.

His brother, who first noticed him unconscious on the floor with food in his mouth, placed him on the couch, believing he was asleep. It wasn’t until hours later that his girlfriend, Amber Williams called the police after discovering Lamar cold and unresponsive.

Rich Homie Quan, who gained fame with hits like 'Type of Way,' was a father of five sons Devin, Royal, Khosen, Loyal, and daughter Alayna. His funeral took place on September 17 in Georgia, with a celebration of life event that was live-streamed for fans.

In a statement shared by his family, they expressed their grief saying, "On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Lamar family lost our beloved son, brother, father and friend. Known to the world as Rich Homie Quan, Dequantes Devontay Lamar was a proud native of the great city of Atlanta, Georgia and represented for the A as he and his music traveled across this globe.”

The statement went on, "While he leaves us with an undeniable hole in our hearts, we are comforted by knowing his music and triumphant spirit lives on. Quan’s legacy will forever be cemented as a soundtrack to our lives. And for this, we are grateful. Celebration of life details will be shared soon. Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support at this difficult time.”
