RFK Jr garners support online as he touts having enough signatures to get on New York ballot
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Robert F Kennedy Jr announced a significant milestone in his independent presidential campaign, declaring that he had amassed the necessary signatures to secure a spot on the New York ballot.
This achievement marks a critical advancement for Kennedy, especially in a traditionally Democratic stronghold that could influence the battle for control of the House, as reported by The Hill.
Thank you, New York! Today we turned in 135,519 signatures, three times the required amount, to gain ballot access in The Empire State — that's more signatures than any presidential candidate has ever submitted in the state. 🙏🗽🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/7kDFw7edoR

Robert F Kennedy Jr's campaign collects required signatures to qualify for New York ballot
A campaign official revealed on Tuesday, May 28, that Kennedy's team had collected over 135,000 signatures, well above the required threshold. This announcement was made public through a statement by Will Boothby, the northeast regional field director for Kennedy's campaign.
"The scale of this grassroots effort has been monumental and proves the strength of our ground game in a way many claimed was impossible," Boothby stated. He highlighted the extensive mobilization effort, which included two major rallies and numerous smaller events, all supported by hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
Boothby also criticized the state's stringent ballot access laws, describing them as a deliberate barrier to independent candidates.
"The State of New York has stacked the deck against independent candidates in every way possible, combining the worst aspects of ballot access restrictions into one amalgamation designed to stop any candidate from achieving what we have achieved today," he continued.
Kennedy himself took to X to boast about the achievement, writing, "Thank you, New York! Today we turned in 135,519 signatures, three times the required amount, to gain ballot access in The Empire State — that's more signatures than any presidential candidate has ever submitted in the state."
Kennedy's campaign made a significant financial investment to meet the signature requirement, reportedly paying individuals up to $90 an hour to collect signatures. According to the New York Post, the total expenditure for this effort surpassed one million dollars.
This high pay rate contrasts sharply with the national average of $35 per hour for petition signature jobs and New York's minimum wage of approximately $14 to $16 per hour.
