Rosie O'Donnell posts throwback pic of daughter Chelsea after third arrest in 3 months: 'Before it began'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rosie O'Donnell posted an older picture of herself with her daughter Chelsea on Thursday, December 5, and reflected on the past as her daughter has been arrested three times in less than three months in connection with drug charges.

The 62-year-old comedian and actress took to Instagram to post a picture of herself with daughters Chelsea and Dakota and captioned it, "Before it began" with the hashtag, #changes.

Rosie, who has five adopted children - Parker, Chelsea, Blake, Vivienne, and Dakota - had a sad look in the selfie she posted on Thursday, according to Daily Mail.

Chelsea was arrested for a third time on November 18 after a traffic stop in Niagara, Wisconsin. She was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, along with a slew of other charges.

She was reportedly a passenger in a car that was pulled over by Niagara Police for having a loud exhaust. Police reports revealed that officers observed "pick marks" on Chelsea's face, indicating heavy drug use.

Notably, a K9 search of the car led to her arrest after a meth-smoking device was found hidden in her bra. Later, during a strip search at the jail, a pill bottle containing meth, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and Lamotrigine was discovered concealed in her body, according to Marca.

Notably, Rosie O'Donnell mentioned her eldest daughter's issues in a post on Tuesday, December 3, in which she acknowledged Chelsea's most recent arrest on November 18, following previous arrests on September 10 and October 11 in connection with drug-related offenses.

She wrote in the post, "So yes this is true - after being bailed out by her birth mother - chelsea was arrested again - and is facing many charges related to her drug addiction - we all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around."

The Emmy-winner included the admission alongside a screenshot of an email requesting comment from a Fox News Digital writer, per the outlet.

Notably, O'Donnell did not share if she had taken any steps to either bail out her daughter or get her enrolled in a drug abuse treatment program.

Chelsea O'Donnell's string of arrests

Chelsea O'Donnell's string of arrests began in September 2024 when she was charged with meth possession and child neglect after her 11-month-old son, Atlas, was found living in unsanitary conditions filled with drugs and garbage.

In October, she was once again arrested during a traffic stop, and just earlier in November, she was released on bond under strict conditions. Her recent arrest marks a violation of those terms. 

During the time, the O'Donnell family addressed her ongoing battle with addiction in a statement and said, "Sadly, this is not new for our family - Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade. We are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease."

Moreover, Chelsea's legal issues have also impacted her relationship with her children. Her ex-partner, Jacob Bourassa, filed a petition to stop unsupervised visits with their three children after her first arrest.
