LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A royal expert has claimed in his book that Meghan Markle was 'expecting a billionaire' in Prince Harry but he turned out to be a millionaire.

In his book ‘Yes, Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants’, Tom Quinn wrote, “Harry was deeply shocked at Meghan's reaction when she discovered, for example, that he was not personally hugely wealthy,” as per the Daily Mail.

“As one staff member put it, ‘She expected a billionaire and got a millionaire.’ It was perfectly understandable that, coming from an American background, Meghan might imagine that Prince Harry, the brother of a future king, should have millions,” the author noted.

Meghan Markle began ‘reassessing many other assumptions’ after finding Harry was worth millions

Quinn then added that when Markle “discovered that Harry was only worth around £20million ($27M), she needed to reassess many other assumptions she'd made about this strange new family.”

The former actress married the Duke of Sussex in 2018 after divorcing her first husband Trevor Engelson in 2014.

The film producer has now been married to Tracey Kurland, a multi-millionaire heiress worth $250 million, since 2019.

Meghan Markle was shocked when she had to live in Nottingham Cottage

Regarding Meghan, Quinn said that after marriage, she “had simply assumed that she would live either in Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.”

But “it was a deep shock to find herself in this small house with no live-in staff in the grounds of Kensington Palace.”

The Sussexes lived in Nottingham Cottage — a 1,324 square feet grace-and-favor house featuring two bedrooms, a bathroom, two reception rooms, and a small garden — after their wedding.

He mentioned in the book, “Starting life as a member of the Royal Family in Nottingham Cottage was the beginning of Meghan's troubles - she felt it was so small it must be a reflection on how the Royal Family were belittling her husband.”

“She just didn't understand that real royals don't care much about houses and material possessions because always having had them they take them for granted,” Quinn added.

Prince Harry did not think ‘he was a spare until his marriage’ to Meghan Markle

The author also spoke with a team member close to the 43-year-old, who reportedly told him that it was Markle who made Harry feel like a “spare”.

“This was the start of the whole grievance thing of being a spare. I don't think Harry had even thought much about the fact he was a spare until his marriage,” the writer of ‘Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle’ stated.

Also, as per a retired member of the Palace staff, “It was only when he began to feel he was being treated as a second-class citizen that the anger began to build up and then the rows - and there were a lot of rows - and the eventual split.”

Meghan Markle always wanted to be ‘the star in life’

As per another book named ‘Revenge’ by biographer Tom Bower, which cited Markle’s father Thomas Markle, she “wants to be the star of the stage and the star in life.”

Even when she accompanied her father, a retired television lighting director and director of photography, to the Emmy awards event as a teenager, the now mother-of-two had said, “Daddy I want to be famous just like you one day.”
