LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ryan Phillippe, 49, is reflecting on his memories with his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon.

On May 27, he took his fans back to 2001 by sharing a photo from a 'Legally Blonde' party he attended with Witherspoon.

The former couple first met on the set of 'Cruel Intentions' in 1997 and got married in 1999.

However, they separated in 2006 and have two children together, Ava, aged 24, and Deacon, aged 20.

On Monday, May 27, the actor posted a photo on his Instagram Stories featuring himself and his ex, both adorned in typical '90s fashion, with their arms around each other.

Witherspoon, aged 48, sported a chin-length blonde haircut and donned a form-fitting, black-and-white striped dress with a high neckline and necktie-style accent, as per People.

Meanwhile, Phillippe, aged 49, opted for a sleeveless collared blue-and-white-striped shirt, black trousers, and dark sunglasses, along with a mohawk hairstyle.

Phillippe wrote at the end of the image, "We were hot and drenched in late '90s angst @reesewitherspoon (such a cooler time than today)."

Phillippe's throwback picture with Witherspoon prompted internet users to reminisce about the good old days, with some also offering criticism regarding the expressions captured in the image.

One said on Facebook, “They were young and in love. But I always thought  they were not  a good match. Imo."

“Neither one of them looks so happy,” yet another critical comment read.

Phillippe and Witherspoon crossed paths for the first time at the actress's 21st birthday celebration in 1997, prior to collaborating on the film 'Cruel Intentions'.

They exchanged vows in Charleston, South Carolina, in June 1999. At the time, Witherspoon was expecting their daughter Ava Phillippe, now 24.

During their marriage, they welcomed two children: daughter Ava in 1999 and son Deacon Phillippe, now 20, in 2003.

In October 2006, Phillippe and Witherspoon announced their separation via a joint statement, expressing their commitment to their family's well-being and requesting privacy.

Shortly after their divorce, Phillippe opened up in an interview with W magazine, describing the divorce as "the darkest, saddest place I've ever been." He disclosed, "There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time of my life."
