BEDFORD, NEW YORK: Ryan Reynolds has responded to Martha Stewart's playful jab about his sense of humor, acknowledging her remark that he is "not so funny" as an "incredibly valid observation."

Ryan Reynolds reflects on Martha Stewart's 'not so funny' remark

When asked about Martha Stewart's remarks about him, Ryan Reynolds said, "I don’t think what happened was designed to hurt anyone. That was just an incredibly valid observation that someone made."

"Lots of people would say I’m very serious if they met me. I can’t imagine entering any room in which I don’t intimately know the people, where I suddenly kind of turn on and perform," the 48-year-old actor shared.

"But why would people ever assume the way they see you on camera is how you’re going to be in real life? Right? You’re just a person," he further reflected before conceding that he was guilty of self-assumption.

Reynolds expressed, "But I do it, too. I’m a fan of people and I love certain people’s work, and I’m thinking when I meet them, I want to see little glimpses of that."

Martha Stewart's 'not so funny' jibe at Ryan Reynolds

Martha Stewart—a longtime neighbor of Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively—spoke about his real-life persona when she appeared on Bilt Rewards' 'Rent Free' game show in November.

Talking of Reynolds, the 88-year-old lifestyle mogul jokingly said, "He’s a good actor. He can act funny, but he isn’t funny."

The 'Free Guy' actor quickly joined the friendly punch on X (formerly Twitter). Replying to Pop Crave's post on Stewart's jibe, Reynolds wrote, "I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.”

Hugh Jackman, Reynolds' 'Deadpool & Wolverine' co-star, even responded to his post, joining in on the fun. "Finally someone says it," he joked.

Weighing in one her friendship with Lively, Stewart said during an interview with HuffPost in 2014, "She moved into my neighborhood a couple of years ago with Ryan — before they got married they bought a house right around the corner from my house."

"And they started to come over, not to borrow sugar, but just as friends … They’re very friendly, very nice people," the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia founder added.

Reynolds and Lively bought their idyllic $2.3 million Bedford, New York home in early 2012, about six months after they began dating.
