WASHINGTON, DC: Legendary actor Mark Hamill, known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' franchise, made a surprise appearance at the White House press briefing room on Friday, May 3.

Sporting a pair of aviator sunglasses, the 72-year-old actor delighted reporters with his witty remarks and a playful nickname themed around 'Star Wars' for President Joe Biden, as reported by The Hill.

"How many of you had 'Mark Hamill will lead the press briefing' on your bingo cards?" Hamill quipped, setting the tone for an entertaining and light-hearted exchange. Expressing his gratitude for meeting the POTUS, he shared, "I just got to meet the president, and he gave me these aviator glasses."

As the briefing progressed, Hamill revealed that during their encounter, Biden had invited him to address him informally. "I called him 'Mr. President'. He said, 'You can call me Joe'," Hamill recounted.

Seizing the opportunity, the actor playfully responded, "Can I call you Joe-B-Wan Kenobi?" – a clever nod to the renowned Jedi Master character from the 'Star Wars' universe.

Hamill's admiration for Biden's legislative achievements was evident as he exclaimed, "I want to say, once again, how grateful I am, and that just shows you that one person can be so influential and so positive in our lives."

The actor, a frequent critic of former President Donald Trump, reminisced about his previous White House visits during the Carter and Obama administrations but noted that this meeting with Biden held a special significance.

"It was really amazing to me because I was invited to the Carter White House, and I came. And then I came to the Obama White House, but I never was invited into the Oval Office, and it was a large gathering. So this one was really extra special," Hamill shared.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the purpose behind Hamill's visit, characterizing the actor as "very much invested in the direction of this country."
