LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When it comes to Hollywood paychecks, Sandra Bullock once casually flipped the gender pay disparity script on the whole industry.

Whil, male stars like Dwayne Johnson and Robert Downey Jr have been raking in those jaw-dropping salaries for years while their female co-stars often got the short end of the stick? Well, Sandra didn’t just level the playing field - she ran over it.

The Oscar-winning queen didn’t just out-earn some of Hollywood’s top male actors; she left them trailing in the dust. And she did it all with one movie. That's right — Sandra took the industry by storm with a single role that made everyone else’s paychecks look like loose change.

Sandra Bullock broke records with 'Gravity'

It was the year 2013 when Sandra Bullock starred in Alfonso Cuaron’s space thriller 'Gravity' alongside George Clooney. Clooney is a legend no doubt, but Sandra was the real star — both on the screen and in the bank. Not only did she deliver an Oscar-nominated performance, but she also walked away with a historic paycheck.

According to Parade, Sandra scored a $20 million advance just for showing up. What's more? She also snagged a deal for 15% of the studio’s box office earnings. Now, 'Gravity' pulled in $723 million worldwide, and after the theaters took their cut the studio was left with $361 million. Sandra’s slice of that pie was a cool $54 million.

Do the math, and her total payday for 'Gravity' comes to a staggering $74 million. Let that sink in for a second.

That paycheck didn’t just make her the highest-paid actress of the decade; it obliterated any competition. Margot Robbie stands at a far second place after making $50 million for 'Barbie', followed by Cameron Diaz's $42 million for 'Bad Teacher', per Cosmopolitan and Film Stories.

How Sandra Bullock crushed the boys’ club

Sandra Bullock didn’t just out-earn her female peers - she put Hollywood’s top male actors in the pale. Let’s start with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who’s known for pulling in $20 to $30 million per film. Sandra’s $74 million makes his numbers look, well... kind of embarrassing.

And about Robert Downey Jr? Sure, everyone loves to talk about how he made $75 million for 'Avengers: Endgame' — except 'Gravity' wasn’t some Marvel mega-franchise. According to The Numbers, it had a budget of just $110 million and Sandra still walked away with almost the same paycheck as RDJ’s blockbuster bonanza.

Now let’s talk about RDJ’s paycheck for a more low-key film like 'Oppenheimer'. According to Variety, he earned just $4 million for Christopher Nolan’s war drama. Yes, 'Oppenheimer' got him an Oscar — but when it comes to pure dollars and cents, RDJ’s 'Oppenheimer' payday was chump change compared to Bullock’s 'Gravity' windfall.

Considering, Bullock’s success isn’t just about the numbers - it’s a statement in an industry where women are often undervalued.
