Savannah Chrisley joins 'The Masked Singer' for her imprisoned parents, Internet says 'good job'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Savannah Chrisley shared that her surprise stint on ‘The Masked Singer’ was predominantly inspired by her imprisoned parents Todd and Julie Chrisley.
The 26-year-old ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ star shared that her parents - who are currently serving federal prison sentences - are the “main reason” why she took part in ‘The Masked Singer.’
Savannah Chrisley participated in the reality show for her parents
The fans of the reality TV competition ‘The Masked Singer’ were up for a major surprise when it was revealed that Savannah Chrisley was a participant in the show and she was competing as the Afghan Hound.
In a recent interview with the People, the reality TV star opened up about her stint, and explained, "This is my year of just saying yes, and especially after everything that happened with my parents and [my ex-fiance] Nic [Kerdiles]."
While the ‘Unlocked’ podcast host’s parents are incarcerated for tax issues, Savannah’s former fiance and ice hockey player Nic Kerdiles died in a motorcycle crash in September 2023, aged 29.
The ‘Growing Up Chrisley’ star talked about her sudden decision to participate in ‘The Masked Singer’ and explained, "I'm like, 'You know what? Don't take life too serious. Laugh, have fun, make fun of yourself, and just go for it.' That was really the main reason why I did it."
While she admitted she knew she had "no musical abilities,” she also knew that it was "going to be a hilarious" journey.
Savannah highlighted in the interview that for her having fun was the most important aspect. Though hesitant at first, Savannah realized it was only her hesitation that wasn’t letting her enjoy the stint.
She shared, “I was like, 'Just freaking do it, Savannah. Just show up, do it, have fun. As long as you have fun, that's all that matters,'" before adding, "After that, I had zero hesitation. I was like, you know what? Might as well just do it."
Admitting that she had “zero musical abilities,” Savannah recalled that there was "zero training whatsoever" on her end. The team, nevertheless, offered her “vocal lessons” which she declined.
The ‘Rampage’ co-founder recalled, "The team offered me vocal lessons and all that, but I was like, hey, guys, it's just going to be a waste of time because I have zero musical abilities, so let's just call it for what it is, and we'll do a run-through when I get there."
"That's what happened, and I just feel like I would've run myself crazy if I actually tried to prepare for it because I'm freaking terrible," admitted Savannah, before adding, "I just jumped in and freaking did it."
She further added that her family who starred in the USA Network’s hit show ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ “definitely knew” about her stint in the competition.
She continued, "I told them especially just to give my parents something to look forward to because I know that they can watch it [from prison].”
"That was really the main purpose of doing it, was just because I wanted them to get to be a part of it and get to watch it and laugh and kind of make a joke out of it with me,” added the embattled daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley.
Savannah Chrisley looks forward to appealing Todd and Julie Chrisley's imprisonment
In another interview with Entertainment Tonight, the reality star shared that they are looking forward to the appeal for reviewing Todd and Julie Chrisley's prison sentences.
After reporting to prison in January 2023, Todd is currently his 10-year prison sentence in Pensacola, Florida, and Julie is serving her five-year sentence in Lexington, Kentucky.
Savannah opened up about the opportunity to appeal their sentences as she shared with the outlet, "Looking forward to our appeal April 19," before adding, "Obviously, I hope to have them home, maybe later in the summer."
Apart from looking at the legal matters for her parents, the 26-year-old is also looking after her two younger siblings, Grayson and Chloe.
Referring to her altered life after her parents' imprisonment, Savannah said, "Just trying to do it all," and noted, "Raising a 17- and 11-year-old is a full-time job, but also working and trying to provide a life for them as well as fighting day in and day out with lawyers to get my parents home."
She, nevertheless, is looking forward to pursuing her degree in law once her parents come back home.
