NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Savannah Chrisley has been navigating an emotional storm ever since her parents, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, were sentenced to prison for tax evasion and fraud.
Their absence has placed a heavy burden on the entire family, especially Savannah, who now finds herself taking on a maternal role for her younger siblings, Chloe and Grayson.
Savannah Chrisley opens up about younger sister Chloe's struggle with abandonment
On her podcast 'Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley' on Tuesday, October 1, Savannah Crisley, 27, opened up about how her mother’s recent resentencing has impacted their lives.
Julie Chrisley’s original 84-month prison sentence for tax evasion and fraud was upheld by the judge, leaving Savannah grappling with the continued absence of both parents.
During the episode, Savannah read a heartfelt letter she had written to the judge, describing the immense strain this situation has placed on her family.
She especially highlighted the emotional impact on her siblings.
“The past two years have been unimaginably difficult. I know that God destined me for motherhood, but never did I expect to be placed in this role under these circumstances,” she shared, according to People magazine.
Though Savannah expressed her deep love for her siblings, she admitted that stepping into a parental role as a young, single woman with just one source of income has been incredibly challenging.

The strain is particularly hard on Chloe, who has faced abandonment before.
“Chloe, who has already experienced the pain of abandonment by her biological parents, now faces that same heartbreak again with the absence of my parents — her true parents,” Savannah said, revealing the heartbreak her younger sister feels.
She recalled Chloe asking, “Do you think mom will be home to teach me to drive? Or will mom be here for my first high school dance?”
In June 2022, a jury reportedly found Todd and Julie guilty of conspiring to defraud Atlanta community banks of over $36 million in fraudulent loans, as well as defrauding the IRS and committing tax evasion.
Julie, who has has three children with Todd (Chase, Savannah, and Grayson), is ordered to continue to serve her seven-year prison sentence.
Savannah Chrisley shares concerns about siblings' mental health struggles
Beyond the emotional toll, Savannah Chrisley has been fighting to create some sense of normalcy for Chloe and Grayson, but the challenges are daunting.
While her brother Grayson has been a source of support, she still reportedly feels the weight of juggling her own life with the responsibilities of parenthood.
Savannah reflected on the significant milestones their mother has missed, sharing, “My mother has missed so many of the moments that define a family - Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Chloe entering middle school and starting cheerleading, Grayson’s last baseball season, senior year, prom, and now the college admissions process. All moments when children need their parents most.”
Savannah also shared her concerns about the mental health of her siblings, revealing that both Chloe and Grayson are battling anxiety and depression.
Despite her best efforts to support them, their struggles persist. “Chloe is struggling in school, despite the resources I’ve tried to provide. Both she and Grayson wrestle with anxiety and depression that sometimes leaves them debilitated,” she explained.
Savannah’s determination to keep her family afloat is evident. She poignantly stated, “I’m fighting with every ounce of my being to keep them from becoming another statistic.”
Todd Chrisley has two children, Lindsie and Kyle Chrisley, whom he welcomed with his first wife, Teresa Terry, and three children, Chase, Savannah and Grayson Chrisley, whom he shares with his current wife, Julie Chrisley.
Chloe is the biological daughter of Todd's estranged son Kyle and a woman named Angela Johnson. In 2016, Todd and Julie legally adopted Chloe amid Kyle's history of substance abuse and run-ins with the law.
In December 2022, Chase directly addressed his parents' sentencing, saying, "I don't owe the public an explanation," as per People.
