Eugene Levy and Dan Levy become first father-son duo to host Emmys

ABC and the Television Academy said that this would be the first time a father and son would emcee the Emmy Awards.

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” both men said in a statement, according to The Hill. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.”

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy each have 4 Emmys themselves

The Levys have won four Emmys apiece. Two awards were given to Eugene Levy for 'Schitt's Creek' and 'SCTV', and four were given to his son, Dan Levy, for his work on the show.

The Levys created history in 2020 when they became the first father and son to win two Emmys in the same year. Dan took up the prizes for Supporting Comedy Actor, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series in addition to Eugene's Outstanding Comedy Actor award.

'Schitt's Creek' won the Outstanding Comedy Series prize that same year.

I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”

The Emmys will air live on ABC on September 15 from the Peacock Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.
