Jennings speaks to Mitch McConnell
Posting on X, Jennings said he spoke with his "old friend" on Tuesday morning while McConnell continues recovering in the hospital.
"I spoke to my old friend Mitch McConnell this morning, the senior Senator from Kentucky. He's still recovering in the hospital. We talked for just shy of 20 minutes … about IRAN, UKRAINE, the unfolding situation in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even a little bit of Senate history. I told him we want to see him back at work as soon as possible," Jennings wrote.
Jennings' statement was followed by reports that several senior Republicans have also recently spoken with McConnell.
NOTUS reporter Al Weaver reported that Senate Majority Leader John Thune recently held a “lengthy and substantive” phone call with Mitch McConnell.
A spokesperson for Thune said their conversation spanned multiple issues, including national security matters.

Per a Thune spox: “Leader Thune spoke with Sen. McConnell yesterday by phone. They had a lengthy and substantive conversation that covered a variety of topics, including national security.”
Separately, Catie Edmondson reported that Senate Whip John Barrasso also spoke with McConnell for around 20 minutes.
That call reportedly covered topics ranging from the Graham Platner controversy to a recent Supreme Court decision on coordinated campaign spending limits.
Taken together, these accounts provide one of the clearest public glimpses into McConnell’s condition, suggesting he remains actively engaged with both domestic and international issues even while out of public view.

High level source close to the White House tells me “Mitch McConnell is officially brain dead. He’s not coming back.”
Rumors explode after viral social media post
The latest updates come as online chatter about Mitch McConnell’s health intensified throughout the week.
The 84-year-old was hospitalized on June 14 after being found unconscious at his home.
Since then, his office has maintained that he is recovering and remains engaged with Senate responsibilities, though he has not made a public appearance.
Speculation surged after conservative activist Laura Loomer claimed on X that a source told her McConnell was “officially brain dead” and would not return to office.
The unverified claim spread rapidly across social media despite no confirmation from official sources.
Shortly after, his eldest daughter, Porter McConnell, deactivated her X account, further fueling online discussion.
Amid the speculation, some users began calling for visible proof that the longtime senator remains actively involved in his duties.
