Sean 'Diddy' Combs claims prosecutors showed judge edited version of ex-GF Cassie Ventura's assault video
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sean "Diddy" Combs claimed prosecutors showed the judge an edited version of ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura's assault video.
Combs and his lawyers have alleged that prosecutors manipulated surveillance footage from March 2016, showing his altercation with Ventura, to deny him bail.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs' claims about Cassie Ventura's assault video
Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team filed documents ahead of his bail hearing, arguing that prosecutors misrepresented the video to paint him as a danger.
The music mogul has maintained his innocence, insisting the video reveals a different story than prosecutors claim, with critical details edited or mischaracterized.
His attorneys assert that the surveillance video has been edited to "tweak the order of events" and present what prosecutors consider their "most powerful evidence of danger and obstruction," as reported by TMZ.
Combs disputed the characterization of the footage, stating it does not support allegations but instead depicts a domestic dispute.
The rapper claimed the video shows him running down a hotel hallway to retrieve his clothes and cellphone.
He denied dragging Ventura or throwing a vase at her, asserting he only threw the vase's contents.
He described the footage as "a sad glimpse into a decade-long consensual relationship," which he insists does not substantiate the charges against him.
The publication noted he is accusing prosecutors of trying to make him seem more dangerous than he is.

In a video posted on Instagram in May 2024, Sean "Diddy" Combs acknowledged his conduct in the 2016 surveillance footage.
"My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” said Combs in the now-removed Instagram video statement, posted three days after CNN obtained the footage.
He added, “I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace."
"I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry," said Combs.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs allegations of misconduct and privilege violations
Sean "Diddy" Combs has also accused prosecutors of misconduct, including violating attorney-client privilege.
His lawyers allege federal agents raided his cell and seized privileged materials related to his defense strategy.
This prompted a court hearing on Tuesday, where US District Judge Arun Subramanian addressed the matter, according to USA Today.
"Get rid of them," said Judge Subramanian to prosecutors, instructing them to destroy copies of the notes seized during the raid.
He added that he would retain a copy until deciding whether the notes could be used by prosecutors.
Judge Subramanian stated that a separate team within the US Attorney's Office responsible for privilege screening could keep the documents.
Prosecutors have also accused Combs of breaking prison rules and attempting to influence potential jurors.
