LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While Sean "Diddy" Combs remains behind bars awaiting his May 2025 trial, a fierce power struggle is reportedly brewing within his family over control of his $400 million empire.

Sources close to the Combs family told In Touch that Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, and his son, Christian "King" Combs, are locked in a tense showdown for control of his estate, which one insider described as a "real-life Godfather situation."

A source dished, "Janice thinks she’s the best person to step in. But Diddy’s son is just as determined to take the reins. It’s become a full-on showdown, and tensions are skyrocketing!"

Despite Diddy’s insistence on his innocence, family members and onlookers are watching closely as his once-thriving empire faces mounting pressure and potential dissolution.

His arrest and subsequent denial of bail have thrust his wealth and business interests into the spotlight, with prosecutors claiming his resources make him a significant flight risk.

During his court appearance in September, Diddy was denied bail and ordered to remain at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his trial, scheduled for May 5, 2025.

The music mogul's legal team voiced frustration over the decision, arguing that he is a "loving family man" and dedicated philanthropist.

"We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr Combs by the US Attorney’s Office," said Diddy's attorney Marc Agnifilo in September.

However, Diddy’s financial situation may not be as strong as it once was.

Zack O'Malley Greenburg, a former Forbes editor and author who has studied Diddy’s wealth, told The New York Times that he believes the rapper's fortune has significantly diminished.

"I firmly believe that he was at one point a billionaire. I firmly believe that he is not now," said Greenburg.

According to Forbes, Diddy’s net worth had shrunk from an estimated $740 million in 2019 to $400 million by June of this year.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs businesses and personal fortune are under scrutiny amid legal woes

This dip in wealth comes as Sean "Diddy" Combs has been forced to list several properties for sale, including his Los Angeles mansion, now on the market for $61.5 million, and his Miami Beach home appraised at $48.5 million.

His legal team reportedly proposed using the Miami property as collateral for a $50 million bond, which the court rejected.

Diddy's businesses and personal fortune are now under scrutiny, with some experts speculating that his empire may be on the brink of collapse.

His sprawling business ventures span a wide range of industries, from music and television to liquor brands. Diddy's most notable partnership has been with liquor giant Diageo, through which he helped turn Ciroc vodka into a household name.

After a successful run, Diddy and Diageo also co-purchased DeLeon tequila, solidifying his influence in the spirits industry.

Yet, in 2023, Diddy sued Diageo, accusing the company of limiting the promotion of both Ciroc and DeLeon to "urban areas" and treating them as "Black brands."

Diageo denied the allegations, with one executive revealing that Diddy had earned nearly $1 billion from their long-term partnership.

Amid the legal chaos, reports surfaced that Diddy sold his large stake in Revolt TV, a network he once championed as a platform for Black creators, to an undisclosed buyer earlier this year.

Following several sexual assault lawsuits, he stepped down as chairman of Revolt TV in November 2023, further signaling the unraveling of his empire.

As a producer and rapper, Diddy played a pivotal role in shaping the careers of iconic artists like the Notorious BIG, Mary J Blige, and Usher through his label Bad Boy Entertainment.

His music catalog, however, is reportedly no longer a major source of revenue. Billboard recently estimated that Diddy earns around $1.25 million annually from music royalties and publishing rights—a modest figure for a former powerhouse in the industry.

This decline in revenue is partly due to Diddy losing ownership of several valuable music rights.
