Selena Gomez’s fans cheer as she unretires from music after a long sabbatical
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Selena Gomez fans have reason to rejoice. The 'Love On' singer has revealed that she isn't done with her music career yet.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 32-year-old singer shared, “I think I’ve done as much as I wanted to do in music, but it’s exciting because I feel like I haven’t even started in film and TV, even though I know I’ve been a part of some great projects and I’m really proud of them.”
Selena Gomez says 'music isn't going away'
During the interview, Selena Gomez said she’s “almost done” with music but added, “Music isn’t going away. I just set it down for a second.”
The ‘People You Know’ singer then went on to say that acting provides her with “sanity” as she explained, “It’s really scary to talk about music that maybe has been a part of your story and isn’t anymore.”
“And it’s really hard to sit there and talk about myself,” Gomez added.
Her fans have been waiting for a new album since her 2020 third studio effort 'Rare', which debuted atop the Billboard 200. The track 'Lose You to Love Me' from the album became her first-ever No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Meanwhile, Gomez has been busy managing her makeup line, Rare Beauty, and her mental health platform Wondermind, while also being part of exciting projects like the 2024 movie 'Emilia Perez'.
Selena Gomez earlier said she ‘would choose acting’ over music
Selena Gomez had hinted previously that she will retire from music.
The Grammy-winning songstress revealed on the 'SmartLess podcast', as per Entertainment Weekly, “The older I get, the more I’m kind of like, ‘I would like to find something to just settle on'."
“I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting,” she added.
Gomez also asserted at the time that she’s “going to want to chill, because I’m tired".
The 'Only Murders In the Building' star said acting was her first career choice.
“I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently that hobby turned into something else. I don’t think I’m the best singer, but I do know how to tell stories and I love being able to make songs,” she mentioned.
Selena Gomez fans say 'we need her and love her'
Selena Gomez’s latest statement has brought relief to her fans as a person on YouTube commented, “I love her music so I'm glad she's not done!! She's got some really great songs in her catalog.”
Another person shared, “I understand her. Music can be very personal and vulnerable. She already do a good job being vulnerable without her music though because she is an advocate for mental health. I think it's her love life that she might not want to talk about. I see her coming back to music in her own time. She just released two songs, last year and I think beginning of this year. She has good music from Emilia Perez too so she didn't completely stop recording. Just no album but she is releasing songs here and there, whether alone or collab.”
“I'm looking forward to more music from Selena Gomez. And I hope that Linda Ronstadt biopic is still happening. If Selena is actually singing in the film, as it was reported, they could release a soundtrack album,” a fan shared.
“I knew she hasn't done, we need her and love her,” a user stated.
Another added, “Her musics are great.”
