WASHINGTON, DC: Late-night comedian Seth Meyers addressed the audience with an election "disclaimer" after making a joke about President Joe Biden's age. He said that there is "no equivalency" between Joe Biden and his Republican opponent Donald Trump.

Meyers started by making fun of widely shared videos of the 81-year-old president stumbling down stairs and freezing during a White House Juneteenth celebration. "Now a quick disclaimer for anybody who's mad about my Biden-is-old jokes," Meyers said, according to Fox News

Seth Meyers said Joe Biden is 'the most powerful man in the world'

"He’s the most powerful man in the world. He can take a joke," the liberal comedian continued. "As we made clear on this show repeatedly, there’s no equivalency between a competent 81-year-old who occasionally shows signs of age and a demented 77-year-old criminal who says dead people rigged the election and thinks electric boat batteries will lead to shark attacks," he added.

Seth Meyers also cautioned his viewers about the upcoming election

In between making jokes about the president's age, Meyers also advised viewers that the election was a "binary choice."

"This is a good reminder, that while I like a president that could at least sway back and forth a little bit, this election is a binary choice and I do prefer stone-cold Joe Biden over a hot dog salesman who’s only got two left to sell," he quipped before playing a clip of Trump dancing at one of his campaign rallies.

Seth Meyers is a Joe Biden supporter

Meyers has been candid about his November election support, just like the majority of other liberal late-night comedians. After a cordial interview in which Meyers made light of Biden's age, he and Biden went out for ice cream in February.

Seth Meyers previously addressed the rights that Donald Trump would lose owing to his conviction in the hush money trial

On Monday, June 10, Seth Meyers discussed the rights that Donald Trump would forfeit as a result of his conviction in the hush money trial.

The comedian made fun of the possibility that the former president would not be allowed to associate with people who have criminal records, saying that Melania Trump would have to spend more time with her husband which would be "bad news."

Former President Donald Trump listens as his attorney Todd Blanche speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. In the episode, Meyers played a clip of Barbara McQuade, the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, suggesting that Trump might not be allowed to associate with anyone who has a criminal record. She then said, "But that’s everyone he knows," referring to the many people close to Trump who have served time in jail.

Drawing a comparison between the former president and the executive producer of 'The Real Housewives' franchise Andy Cohen, the comedian quipped, "Telling Donald Trump he can't associate with a criminal record is like telling Andy Cohen he can only associate with fake housewives. What do you want him to do? Make new, normal, non-criminal friends?"

Meyers continued, "You know who this is really bad news for? His family. Now he’s going to have to spend more time with them. Melania is probably so worried about this that she'll knock over a liquor store in broad daylight just to have a rap sheet."

Netizens triggered after Seth Meyers mocked Joe Biden's age

Internet user slammed Seth Meyers after he made fun of the president's age. One user tweeted, "Seth Meyers didn't he just get his shows budget cut due to dismal ratings, and had to fire his band, obviously there is no writing staff to be fired, judging from his dialogue or lack of." Another wrote, "No wonder his show sucks and his bosses fired his band. His show is gone by the end of that contract in 2028 guaranteed."

"Next season due to budget cuts there will not be a live band. FLOUNDERING," added one. "Jokes should also be in quotes. Never heard this guy say anything remotely funny," commented one user.
