LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stephen Colbert torched Donald Trump over a strange complaint the former president had about pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Trump repeatedly called Swift “beautiful,” though he doesn’t like her politics ― and thinks she might be faking it, according to a new book, 'Apprentice In Wonderland'.

Stephen Colbert's cutting commentary on Trump's surprise and Alito's controversy

“She is liberal, or is that just an act?” Trump asked author Ramin Setoodeh. “She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal.” Colbert said Trump seems surprised that anyone who is “beautiful” might not like him, so he offered the former president an example. “Has he never met his wife?” Colbert quipped.

Colbert also addressed Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's controversy. Alito has been criticized for displaying flags supportive of the January 6 insurrectionist movement outside his residences.

His attendance at a dinner hosted by the Supreme Court Historical Society further fueled controversy when his remarks, secretly recorded, hinted at a mindset contrary to the principles of judicial impartiality.

He quipped, "Supreme Court Justice and baby who definitely does not want that airplane to come in for a landing, Samuel Alito, has been in hot water lately for, among other things, flying multiple flags that support the January 6th insurrectionists outside of his homes. Now he has been secretly recorded saying what the flags only hinted at. See, last week, Alito attended a fancy dinner held by the Supreme Court Historical Society."

Colbert's commentary draws flak online

In response to Stephen Colbert's comedic critique of Donald Trump's views on Taylor Swift, social media users offered a spectrum of reactions, reflecting polarized opinions.

One user wrote, "Difference between class comedians and classless. Going after ones family is classless. If it happened to him he would be suing everybody."

Another said, "This guy has a BAD case of TDS!!!!"

Someone else noted, "A devastating observation by some not so talented comedian? Okay."

One replied, "As usual, Colbert says something that makes no sense at all. He needs to choose his occupation, entertainment or politics. He's not good at either."

Another commented, "Colbert wouldn't have a show, if he couldn't talk about Trump. Do people actually go out of their way to watch him. Ugghhh."
