Nicki Minaj shuts down Kanye West’s request for clearance on 'New Body'
On Thursday, December 14, West took to social media to share what appeared to be a one-sided text conversation between himself and Minaj.
In the texts, West asked the 'Super Bass' hitmaker to clear her verse for the song’s inclusion on his upcoming album called 'Vultures.'

Fans eagerly awaited Minaj’s public response, but after hours of silence, she went live on Instagram to announce that she was no longer interested in being a part of the track.

“That train has left the station,” Minaj stated bluntly during her live stream. “No disrespect in anyway. I just put out a brand-new album. Why would I put out a song that has been out for 3 years? Come on guys.”
Minaj had previously recorded her guest verse for 'New Body' in 2018 during sessions for West’s album 'Yandhi.'
But after many delays, the album never saw an official release, and 'New Body' remained unheard except for snippets previewed at West’s listening parties or online leaks over the years.
The tense exchange comes on the heels of recent conflicts between Minaj and music industry forces.
Quite recently, an irritated Minaj called out Billboard for what she deemed unfair treatment surrounding the first-week sales of her latest album, 'Pink Friday 2.'
Despite selling over 300,000 copies, Minaj says Billboard deducted 100,000 album units from her totals.

Another echoed the sentiment, expressing, "I’m glad she declined it tbh."
