LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn is “disappointed” but has decided not to react to the music superstar’s latest album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ in which she may have accused the British actor of cheating and breaking her dreams.

In Swift’s 11th studio album, which dropped on Friday, April 19, the billionaire songstress sang about her broken dreams of marriage and children, which Swifties believe are aimed at Alwyn, 33.

While Taylor Swift has found love with her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce, fans known as Swifties believe that her past relationship with Joe Alwyn has been a significant inspiration behind her latest album.

Swift, 34, and the British star dated for six years from 2017 until their breakup in April 2023. However, the ‘Boy Erased’ star, who has never talked about his past relationship with the Grammy-winner, is not planning to address their split as well.

Now, an insider close to Alwyn has shared that though he had been left “disappointed” at the apparent diss, he has chosen not to react to any of it.

The source close to Alwyn recently disclosed to the Daily Mail, "There has been absolutely zero contact between them," before further stating, "She did not run these songs by him, but he did not expect her to."

The insider expressed Alwyn's "disappointment," revealing, "Joe has listened to the album, and he is slightly disappointed, but not surprised at all."

They further commented, "She didn't really trash him or defame him," before asserting, "Joe is not going to react to this."

The source further shared that Alwyn understands Swift's creative process and is aware that she draws inspiration from her past relationships for her creations.

The ‘Conversations With Friends’ actor collaborated with the ‘Fortnight’ singer for two albums. He co-wrote and co-produced a number of songs with Swift for her album ‘Folklore’ under the pseudonym William Bowery.

He also collaborated with Swift for her next studio album ‘Evermore’ as well.

The insider claimed, “Taylor draws on her relationships for almost all her songs and he admires her artistry.”

“He has made a ton of money off the six songs that he wrote for Taylor in the past and he is grateful that their relationship also helped to make him a household name,” added the insider.

They shared that the actor is not dwelling on the past but instead looking forward to the future. In two months, Alwyn's film 'Kinds of Kindness' is set to release, and he will be embarking on a press tour for the same.

“He has a movie coming out that he is focused on,” said the insider. Nevertheless, they also stated, “He will be doing press – but will not be entertaining any Taylor questions.”

They added, “Joe has moved on. He is not holding any grudges against her for doing what she does. He knows that it was par for the course.”

Though Swift has not mentioned distinctly which songs of the album are about Alwyn, her fans speculated that songs like ‘So Long’, ‘London’, ‘Fresh Out the Slammer’ and ‘The Black Dog’ may talk about Swift’s broken dreams and her relationship with the British star.

Fans support Joe Alwyn for his stance

Following speculation that Joe Alwyn would refrain from reacting to 'The Tortured Poets Department', online readers expressed support for the actor and praised him for his "classy" act.

One of the fans said, "Joe is both talented and handsome! Wish him well! Taylor is happy and has moved on so has Joe! Best wishes and Godspeed!" [sic]

Someone else added, "Joe has moved on. Taylor clearly hasn’t if she is using him as a stepping stone."

"So glad to see he will remain silent. Shows great spirit and manners not to lash back," said someone else.

Another fan chimed in, "It must be hard not to discuss or comment on a past romance, especially since Taylor seems to have take out anger on Joe. I will say again that Joe Alwyn is a classy man to not discuss his personal life or his past 6 yr. involvement with Taylor. Obviously Joe lives in the present." [sic]

"Good on him, I like the fact he’s not going low and commenting. Glad he put up a boundary to the press. He was with her for six years, he knows he dodged a huge bullet. Silence is golden," said another social media user.

Another netizen added, "Attaboy, Joe. Stiff upper lip is how to do it. Whatever faults and imperfections you may have, you are only human, in addition to being the consummate gentleman of not kissing and telling - unlike your ex." [sic]
