Simone Biles casts doubt on 2028 LA Olympics presence, says there's 'almost nothing' left to do
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Simone Biles made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning three gold medals and one silver to become the most decorated US gymnast.
Her extraordinary performance solidified her legacy as one of the greatest athletes in gymnastics history.
However, fans hoping to see her compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles may be disappointed.
Simone Biles says returning to 2028 LA Olympics would be 'greedy'
Simone Biles has indicated she is not certain about returning to the Games.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated after being named their "2024 Sportsperson of the Year," Biles shared her thoughts on another Olympic appearance.
"If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide," she said in the interview.
"What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?" Bile said.
Simone Biles says she is 'humble enough' to know when to be done
The 11-time Olympic medalist, Simone Biles, 27, dazzled the world with her performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Her death-defying vault, including one known as the Biles II also known as the Yurchenko double pike has been retired from her routines, fueling speculation about her retirement.
Biles even threw a funeral for the move she was officially attached to in the 2023 World Championship. She became the first woman to pull it off in an international competition according to Los Angeles Times.
Biles, who married Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens in April 2023, hinted at focusing on personal goals outside gymnastics.
Owens signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March 2024 and was excused from training camp to support her Olympic journey.
When asked what would motivate her to return for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, Biles remarked, “Life and death."
"Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done,” she said.
