LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Sister Wives’ star Meri Brown shared one of the ugliest details about her marriage with Kody Brown while speaking with her friend Jenn Sullivan recently.

The 53-year-old TV personality told Sullivan during the January 5, Sunday, episode of the TLC series, “One time he told me, this was right after he moved to Vegas. He said, ‘You have been really horrible to me for 20 years. So you're going to have to wait at least that long for me to fix my relationship with you,’” as reported by InTouch Weekly.

Meri Brown says she ‘didn’t last that long’ to suffer in Kody Brown marriage

Meri Brown then went on to reveal that Kody Brown, 55, made the threatening comment after they shifted to Nevada in 2011 and started living in a rental property.

Kody reportedly said to her, "Listen you’ve been hard to live with. You’ve been mean. And so now I am going to be this way to you and you’re just going to have to deal with it for 20 years.”

During the episode, Jenn expressed her shock over Kody’s meanness but Meri seemed relaxed as she joked, “Listen joke’s on him, I didn’t last that long,” seemingly referring to their 2014 divorce.

Meri Brown admits she ‘wasn’t the easiest to live with’

In a confessional segment, the mother-of-one then shared, “No wonder people look at me and are just like, ‘Really? Why did you not get the clue?’ I got the clue. I got the message that he was giving. I was chalking it up to, you know, the fact that he was trying to figure things out.”

“A lot of times really nasty things spew out of his mouth when he doesn’t mean them. Also I know I wasn’t the easiest to live with. I get that,” Meri added.

However, Kody has his own explanation to Meri’s claim.

He asserted in his confessional, “I was saying it because I was mad enough to tell the truth. Looking back on the marriage, I was like, ‘We should have divorced here, we should have divorced here, we should have divorced here.’ But I didn’t believe in divorce.”

Meri was Kody’s first wife and the two got married in 1990. They did get a legal divorce in 2014 but did not separate at the time.

Meri Brown disclosed, per TODAY, “Back in 2014, Kody and I did do a legal divorce, and for me, that whole process was purely for the fact that he could then marry Robyn (Brown) legally and then adopt her three older kids.”

“But our spiritual marriage, our spiritual ceiling was still intact. When we marry, it is for eternity. That’s the intention,” she stated.

However, the pair finally split in 2023 after they announced their “decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship".

“During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all members of our family, and we are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace, and love,” their joint statement read.
