LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Celebrities are facing a wave of backlash as they seek financial help from followers for their families after losing their homes in the awful LA wildfires.

After Spencer Pratt was criticized for asking fans for support, singer and actress Mandy Moore also found herself in the hot seat.

Moore came under scrutiny after launching a GoFundMe to help her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, who lost their home and belongings in the fire. Critics questioned why she wasn’t fully funding her family's recovery, prompting Pratt to step up and defend Moore against the criticism.

Spencer Pratt stands by Mandy Moore: 'She’s a great human'

In response to Mandy Moore's backlash, Spencer Pratt defended her on TikTok, saying, "Let me tell you about Mandy Moore. Mandy Moore, when I was younger, shout-out Mandy Moore. She booked my hotel for me because she was such a nice friend.”

He added, “Just as a friend, she booked my hotel in New York — I had never been to New York. I feel like she even booked my flight because I was so much fun to be around. Mandy Moore, I will ride for Mandy Moore."

He then warned, “If I see one more TikTok about Mandy Moore and GoFundMes, I’m going to start coming after you guys.”

“You want beef with your worst nightmare, which is me right now? You post about Mandy Moore. I will ride for Mandy Moore," Pratt added.

He continued to praise her, “Mandy Moore doesn’t do anything wrong, she’s the nicest freakin’ lady ever. She’s been nice since 2004. If you’re nice in 2004, you’re still nice in 2025. I’m talking so nice. So don’t you dare come for Mandy Moore. Maybe delete your content about Mandy Moore because Mandy Moore is a real one.”

Pratt concluded, “She’s a great human. She’s not doing anything out of pocket — she’s posting GoFundMes, that’s great. She doesn’t have to pay for whoever. She’s got her own life, probably her own kids, so don’t you come for Mandy Moore.”

The controversy began when Moore posted a now-deleted fundraiser on her Instagram for her brother-in-law Griffin Goldsmith and his wife Kit, launched by musician Matthew Koma, Hillary Duff's husband.

Spencer Pratt's wife Heidi Montag’s album ‘Superficial’ hits number one on iTunes

Spencer Pratt reached out to Mandy Moore for support as his wife Heidi Montag’s 2010 album ‘Superficial' hit number one on iTunes.

This follows Pratt’s earlier request to fans to stream the album in order to generate income after their home was destroyed in the Palisades fire.

On TikTok, Pratt shared a series of photos of himself standing in front of their destroyed home with a caption urging, "Please stream any of [Heidi Montag’s] music on any platforms it will make a huge difference." He also kept his followers updated on social media as the album climbed the charts.

To celebrate the achievement, Pratt posted a video on Instagram, saying, "Popstar Heidi Montag No. 1 on iTunes America. Thank you everyone! Who needs a house, who needs clothes, who needs anything but this level of clout, pop, superstardom? Our sons are gonna be like, ‘My mom was No. 1 on iTunes America.'"

Following the milestone, Pratt didn’t hold back in his plea, urging anyone "who owns a radio station or knows a radio station" to help promote 'Superficial' to boost its chances further. He added, "We need radio play, I guess, not just iTunes to get No. 1 on Billboard charts, which is the ultimate goal. Cause then it’s like, that a wrap, Heidi is the biggest superstar in the world."
