Mandy Moore’s fans console her as she posts ‘gut-wrenching’ update about evacuating family amid LA fires

ALTADENA, CALIFORNIA: As the devastating wildfires continue to ravage parts of Los Angeles, many celebrities have been sharing updates on their safety, and Mandy Moore is no exception. 

Moore revealed that while she managed to escape the Eaton Fire in East LA, the emotional toll of watching her neighborhood engulfed in flames has left her "in shock."

To put the scale of the disaster into perspective, the Eaton Fire erupted north of Pasadena on Tuesday evening, quickly spreading and destroying over 100 structures and 10,000 acres across Altadena and Pasadena.

According to an Instagram post on Tuesday night, January 8, Mandy Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, safely evacuated their property and ensured their children and pets were brought to safety.

Mandy Moore shared a carousel of two videos captured from inside a moving car, where the view was shrouded in a dense, black fog caused by the raging wildfire. 

In some areas, large flames could be seen, while others had already been devastated by the fire. The second video appeared to be filmed after she exited the car, showing a vast area still engulfed in flames, with no signs of it stopping.

The post was accompanied by an emotional caption that read, "I love you, Altadena. Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets)." 

Moore shared her feelings, saying, "Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children’s school is gone." 

She continued, "Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control."
