LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Spencer Pratt has fired back at Kacey Musgraves after the singer launched into a profanity-laced attack on Christopher Columbus during a concert in Dallas.

Pratt, on Tuesday, October 13, reposted a video featuring Musgraves’ remarks and responded with a blistering message aimed at people he believes are too quick to condemn historical figures.

Spencer Pratt slams Kacey Musgraves

Pratt took aim at what he sees as a generation that criticises the achievements of earlier figures while enjoying the benefits of what they built.

“An entire generation of spoiled brats who’ve never built anything, stand on the crumbling empire they don’t deserve, built by great and courageous men who are now judged through the moral lens of the softest dorks living in the easiest times. Oy vey,” he wrote on X.

His post followed Musgraves’ comments about Columbus, whose legacy has long divided Americans.

While his voyages across the Atlantic are associated with the beginning of sustained European expansion into the Americas, the explorer is also criticised for his treatment of Indigenous people and the colonial violence that followed.

Columbus reached the Americas in 1492 while sailing under the Spanish Crown.

His voyages helped establish lasting links between Europe and the Americas, but the expansion that followed brought conquest and the dispossession of Indigenous populations.

Those consequences have fuelled campaigns to replace or supplement Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which recognises Native American communities and their histories.

Pratt's response, however, took a different view of the debate, arguing that people living in comparatively comfortable times should think twice before judging those who came before them.

Kacey Musgraves' Columbus rant

Musgraves made the remarks during the second of two shows at Dallas’ American Airlines Center on Sunday, October 11, while addressing the audience ahead of Columbus Day.

Realising what the following day marked, she asked the crowd: “Tomorrow’s Monday? … Ew, that’s right, wait, it’s Columbus Day? It’s what now?”

Audience members reportedly booed and called out that the occasion was Indigenous Peoples’ Day instead.

Musgraves then launched into a blunt takedown of the explorer, declaring, “Literally the lamest person to probably ever exist. Like for real. What a loser.”

She doubled down moments later, telling the crowd, “You’re a loser, Christopher Columbus, we hate you!”

Her Columbus Day remarks were not the only politically charged moment linked to her performances.

Musgraves also hosted James Talarico at a show over the weekend.

According to media reports, the singer also took aim at former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
