LONDON, ENGLAND: Admirers of the royal family could not help being amazed after noticing Princess Diana's trademark facial expression on the faces of her elder son, Prince William, and grandchildren George and Charlotte, whom she never met.

Photographers frequently captured her telltale gaze and her customary dignified expression. The devoted followers of the late princess have dubbed the look the "Spencer Stare", per the New York Post.

Have Prince William, Charlotte and George inherited Diana's 'Spencer Stare'?

The most famous instance of Princess Diana's trademark gaze was when she first revealed the truth about her tumultuous marriage to then Prince of Wales, Charles, in an interview with Martin Bashir in 1995.

She revealed the details of her and Charles' troubled marriage, including her famous statement that "there were three of us in the marriage, so it was a bit crowded".

Diana presented only a small portion of the royal family's messy affairs, maintaining a frosty demeanor the entire time, per Daily Mail.

But it wasn't until Bashir questioned her about her prospects as the future Queen of England that her gaze broke. "No. I'd like to be the queen of people's hearts. But I don't see myself being queen of this country," Diana stated in the interview.

Prince William was born in 1982 and people were curious to find out who the future monarch would resemble in terms of looks.

Royalists began comparing him to his mother Diana as he grew older because they had similar features, including a sharp jawline and golden blonde hair.

Interestingly, fans also noticed William displaying his mother's trademark facial expressions, including the Spencer Stare -- intense gaze with lowered eyebrows and typically a dignified expression on the face.

One of the most popular photographs of 15-year-old William wearing the stare was taken in September 1997 at his mother's funeral. During the tragic incident, the teenager was seen looking off into the distance with his uncle, Earl Spencer.

The resemblance between the mother and son has only grown stronger over time, but now astute fans have pointed out that the prince's children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, have also inherited the similarities.

One royal family supporter pointed out that "William, Charlotte and Diana all have the same eye shape, William even has Diana's eye color too".

Royal fans have also compared William's two children, George and Charlotte, to their grandmother Diana, stating that they both inherited her signature gaze.

Videos of the two royal children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, that have surfaced on different occasions, such as the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla, show off the young royals' captivating glare.

Princess Charlotte, 9, wore a flower crown tiara that was remarkably similar to her mother, Kate Middleton, when she attended the coronation in May 2023.

More recently, Charlotte went to Trooping the Colour with her family in June, where she gazed directly into the camera with a thoughtful expression, and one photographer was able to capture her glare flawlessly.

Prince George, her 11-year-old brother, has also been likened to his late grandmother.

Almost exactly like his father when he was younger, Prince George wore the Spencer Stare at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022, and again at the coronation as his younger sister.

In keeping with the Pages of Honour's traditional uniform, George was photographed at the king's coronation wearing his knee-length scarlet coat with gold trimmings.

He appeared in scenes reminiscent of a young William, clasping his hands in front of him and glaring into the distance.
