LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Aaron Korsh confirmed that Meghan Markle has an open invitation to return to the 'Suits' universe while attending the premiere of 'Suits LA' in California on February 20.

However, the series creator expressed reservations about how such a return could impact the show’s world-building.

Speaking to People, Aaron Korsh said, “So, look, to me, we have thought about whether it be Meghan or any of the other cast members coming on and playing themselves as an actor."

“I think for me that's a little, my brain blows up at the thought of that,” he shared.

“So I think it blows up the world too much. Obviously, if Meghan wants to come back under any circumstances, Meghan can come back," he elaborated.

When asked if the Duchess of Sussex had a standing invitation, Korsh responded, “Of course. Of course. Always. But realistically, it would be too much of an explosion of the fourth wall.”

Meghan Markle was introduced as Rachel Zane in 'Suits' Season 1, portraying a sharp-witted paralegal.

She appeared in 108 episodes before departing at the end of Season 7. Her exit was woven into the storyline, as Rachel married Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) and moved to Seattle.

Korsh previously revealed that he had anticipated Meghan’s departure before Prince Harry, 40, proposed in November 2017.

Speaking to the BBC at the time, he said, “I had a decision to make because I didn't want to intrude and ask her, 'Hey, what’s going on and what are you going to do?' So collectively with the writers, we decided to take a gamble.”

The gamble paid off, as Meghan’s final episode aired in April 2018, just weeks before she married Prince Harry on May 19.

'Suits’ resurgence and new spinoff

Following a massive resurgence in popularity on Netflix, NBC Universal announced 'Suits LA', set to premiere on February 23. The spinoff exists within the same universe but introduces a fresh cast.

Despite Meghan’s success in 'Suits', she has remained focused on her new chapter post-Hollywood.

In her first joint interview with Harry after their engagement, she shared, “I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change. It’s a new chapter, right?”

"And also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on [Suits] for seven years. We were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series," she added.
