NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' co-host Sunny Hostin ripped into Democratic lawmakers who sided with their Republican colleagues in censoring Representative Al Green (D-TX) for interrupting President Donald Trump's address to the joint session of Congress on March 4, reported Mediaite.

Green reportedly brandished his cane at the POTUS on the house floor and yelled that he did not have a "mandate" to cut Medicaid. The 77-year-old was expelled from the Congress chamber by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as a result and was also criticized by House Democratic leadership.

Sunny Hostin rebukes Democrats who voted to censure Al Green

During the Friday, March 7 episode of 'The View', Sunny Hostin harshly criticized the Democratic lawmakers who voted to censure Al Green. She argued that they failed to demonstrate the fighting spirit that was required of them in a country facing an "existential crisis."

When co-host Joy Behar asked why she was intent on naming the Democrats who voted against their colleague instead of rebuking Republicans, a visibly agitated Hostin replied, "Because they don’t know how to fight and be part of an opposition party. Representative Green gave them the example!"

"The Democrats are not meeting the moment. It is very clear that Medicaid is on the table, it is very clear that Social Security is on the table, it is very clear that people will die," she continued.

"The baby boomers, the civil rights generation, they knew what they had to do. They were willing to fight and die for their rights. This generation of Congress? They are not meeting the moment! This is an existential crisis!" Hostin exclaimed.

The 10 Democratic Congress members who voted to censure Green include Ami Bera and Jim Costa of California, Ed Case of Hawaii, Laura Gillen and Tom Suozzi of New York, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania, Jim Himes of Connecticut, Jared Moskowitz of Florida, and Marcy Kaptur of Ohio.

"They should be ashamed of themselves! They all should have walked out with him," Hostin added.

Conservatives ridicule Sunny Hostin over her take on Democrats who voted to censure Al Green

Some netizens didn't agree with Sunny Hostin's take on the Democratic lawmakers who voted to censure Al Green.

One wrote, "They are so dumb they don't know the meaning of fighting and dying for rights," and another said, "She needs to be removed. This kind of hate speech needs to stop. Americans are done with this."

"Please get that woman some help," a person expressed, while someone else stated, "They should just rename this show 'The Hate.'"

"Authoritarianism has been legitimized by the left. They believe fighting against freedom of speech, imposing draconian measures or inciting violent resistance to a legitimately elected government is righteous. That's because they do not think other people's opinions are wrong, they think they are illegitimate," an individual wrote.

One took a jab at her career as a lawyer, writing, "I can see why she’s not a Lawyer anymore." Another person said, "Why doesn’t she start and see who follows. These type of people are never willing to do it themselves."
