Al Green ejected for disrupting Trump speech, Internet recalls Marjorie Taylor Greene's heckling of Biden

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Al Green, D-Texas, was ejected from the House Chamber Tuesday night after disrupting President Donald Trump's joint address to Congress. In the early moments of Trump's speech, Green stood up and shook his cane at the president, sparking an online debate.
Many compared his actions to Marjorie Taylor Greene, who heckled former president Joe Biden last year, pointing out the differing responses to the two incidents. The internet quickly took notice, sharing their thoughts on the contrasting outcomes.

AI Green disrupts president Donald Trump's joint session of Congress
When Al Green disrupted President Donald Trump’s speech, other lawmakers in the House reacted with a mix of cheers and boos, adding to the chaos on the floor as Trump paused his address.
The commotion prompted House Speaker Mike Johnson to read from the House rules, stating, “Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions.”

Weird that Marjorie Taylor Greene was never removed when she went off at Biden's SOTU a few years ago. pic.twitter.com/2B8K8sx9Yo
As Green refused to sit down and let Trump continue, Johnson ordered the House sergeant at arms to remove him. As Green was escorted out, Republicans chanted, “Nah nah nah nah, goodbye.”
Outside the chamber, Green spoke to reporters, telling NBC that, as "a person of conscience," he believed Trump “has done things that we cannot allow to continue.”

Green added, “This whole budget that he has is one that is going to cause Medicaid to be cut, and when he said he had a mandate, it triggered something. It really did. Because he doesn’t have a mandate, and he doesn’t have a mandate to cut health care from poor people.”

Inside the chamber, protests continued as members of the Democratic Women’s Caucus wore pink to oppose Trump’s policies on women and families. Other Democrats wore blue and yellow ties in support of Ukraine, following a tense Oval Office meeting between Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Some members also displayed stickers accusing Elon Musk of "stealing Social Security."
On March 7, 2024, Marjorie Taylor Greene exhibited similar behavior when she interrupted former president Joe Biden during his State of the Union address, which was delivered at a joint session of Congress in the House chamber.

During the heckling, Greene attempted to steer the conversation toward the murder of nursing student Laken Riley, with Biden referring to the victim as “Laken Riley,” although he appeared to mispronounce her name. Biden described her as "an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal immigrant."
Interestingly, Greene was not removed from the chamber, and the internet drew comparisons between her actions and a similar situation involving AI Green, which produced different reactions.

An individual was referring to Greene's 2023 heckling of Joe Biden, "Cause that was when speech was truly free…"
One person noticed, "Because she sat down. Al Green broke House rules be remaining to stand. Facts matter."
